Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. It was scruffy, dirty, shower didn’t work, it smelled horrible, I would say don’t use it!!! I tried to find another hotel but it was too late. I don’t know how they get away with it. What happened to H&S inspections???

I would not recommend this hotel unless you have no other option. It’s in dire need of renovation. It looks like it hasn’t had anything new, replaced or updated since about 1994. Including the towels. It is relatively clean and the staff are nice but that’s where the positives end. The room was small & dark with 0 sound protection from neighbouring rooms. There isn’t a fridge or safe. It also had a very strong air freshener smell that, in my opinion, was trying to cover the smell of dog. (I am sensitive to smells though so this might just be my own perception) The bathrooms are grubby with possibly the worst shower I’ve experienced. Non-detachable with 0 water pressure. Breakfast was ok - they had a table with a selection of cereals, fruit, yogurts, juice and tea &coffee or you could order hot food like full English, bacon sandwiches, egg on toast etc. Overall, it was an unpleasant stay and definitely not worth the amount I paid for the two nights.

The room was really awful. It smelled of damp. The towels felt like sandpaper. The toilet smelled dirty. The shower was not very good and barely warm. The chair had a sunken seat. I felt unsafe in there too.

The Waverley Hotel is 5 minutes' walk from Crewe railway station, one road back from the busy Nantwich Road, meaning it is reasonably quiet. It is a mix of older buildings and my room was quite small with a single bed, desk and wall mounted TV above the desk, which made watching it from the chair a litle tricky - but it did have the full range of Freeview, including radio. The bed was OK; however the duvet was thick, so I was either too hot under it, or too cold without it. There was a rather crinkly waterproof undersheet, but that didn't affect my sleeping. The en-suite shower worked well, though the towels were a little scratchy. They don't serve evening meals, although there are many pubs, restaurants and takeaways close by, and there's an courtyard with benches and tables at which you can sit (and eat) on warmer evenings. Breakfast was good; a vegetarian English has no replacement protein but was generously portioned and cooked to order. There was a self-service selection of juices, cereals, tea/coffee, yoghurts, tinned fruit salad and whole fresh fruit. It was reasonably priced although I paid more than I would have done in one of the chains had I booked early enough.

The lady that greeted me at reception was very friendly, showed me to my room, and explained about the breakfast. I had no problems with the room, which was clean and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked and was excellent. All in all very pleasant stay, and I shall return again when I next stay overnight in the area.

Don’t bother. If you’re unfortunate like me you’ll be in room 19 or 21 downstairs. You will be subjected to the staff toilet being opposite your door and will have to listen to their comings and going’s. Further more, the “Hotels” restaurant is also adjacent to said rooms, so be prepared to listen to the comings and going’s and chatter of the restaurant clientele. The staff …friendly and welcoming but I think I know more about their personal lives than my own, due to the fact that reception is also located on the ground floor, 20 meters from your room and they don’t mind talking loudly. Don’t mind at all ! I don’t actually no when I finally got to sleep, must have been so exhausted from all the noise must of just crashed. The room smelt of damp and mildew, the shower/bathroom was a shower of ****. Couldn’t wait to get out of there. Don’t even mind the fact that I left so early I didn’t get the breakfast included with the stay. Again, don’t bother.
