I had trepidations on arrival, and it turns out these were well founded. There was one front of house person who had been "left on his own", and from what I could gather had no hotel experience. The hotel had made a mistake with my booking, and were very reluctant to help me when I tried to fix the issue.... more

I had the misfortune to stay here for ten days ( so I do know what I'm talking about ), and had I had the possibility of moving to another hotel I would most certainly have done so. This hotel is a classic example of a couldn’t care less, anything will do approach to its guests. It seems to me... more

As a seasoned traveller and used to staying in war zones this compares with some of the worst places I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. The rooms were shabby and dirty and smelly, food awful and facilities non existant. The beds were uncomfortable and bathroom falling apart. The public areas were as bad. If you have a... more

Smoky dirty bedrooms, not even cleaned at 4 in afternoon. Food absolutely awful, staff untrained and sullen, probably because kitchens serving up slop for food and having to listen to all the complaints. We brought food into hotel to eat as we could not stand another of their so called dinners. Could do with another captain at the helm! more

Most of the other reviews reflect my experience. Travelled with Glenton Coach Travel , September 2009 and am writing to them to try and convince them that this hotel is doing their company serious harm. The vast majority of our fellow travellers were appalled at the conditions and are likely to spread the news vociferously. Statistics show that if you... more

This place made me feel ill. The rooms stank to high heaven and the staff were unbelievably ignorant and standoffish when confronted with the fact. We’d booked 4 rooms as we were in Stockport on long term business and after one night in the hotel we all checked out and found another hotel. This dump I’d then been advised by... more

Went here with my 85 year old Grandmother, they gave us a room on the 3rd floor but the lift only went to the 2nd! It was then up a dark, steep, filthy set of stairs, and the room was vile! dark, dirty and with the most horrible smell. We changed rooms but there was not a lot of difference to... more

if you just want somewhere to stay because you're in the area- this will do. Cheap deals available, but wouldn't advise paying the rack price. Room adequate, but too hot, 1 miserable pillow, beds seperated to make single beds but then no proper headboard behind beds, shower very poor Shame the receptionist was indifferent as we left- doesn't take much... more

Bearing in mind the price £45 a night including full breakfast then the hotel was excellent value. I was a bit worried about the dreadful comments about cleanliness but those comments are more from a few years ago. The hotel room was clean with hoovered carpets, clean bedding and clean bathroom. (albeit bathroom needs decorating..it is clean). New kettle in... more

Some reivews I read before I went did make me apprehensive. No need to worry. We went on a coach tour to this hotel, paid £99 for 4 days 3 nights dinner bed and breakfast and 2 tours of the surrounding area. Excellent value for money. clean rooms, very polite and helpful staff, very presentable dining room and food was... more
