We headed for the Boot Inn purely for the New Year celebrations with friends. Word of mouth was that the owners really push the boat out at New Year and we were not disppointed. We did not stay at the hotel as it was fully booked, but certainly aim to in the future as we were very pleasantly surprised by... more

My stay in the Boot Inn was a no frills very friendly experience. I was glad i did not take any notice of some of the reviews on here. I went there with my husband and 10 month old dog who all the staff made a huge fuss of. Our room was not very big but i was not expecting... more

We stayed at The Boot 5 years ago and enjoyed it, so were happy to return. The location is fabulous, in a small village on the quieter western side of the Lake District, which we prefer to the Ambleside/Windermere side, always filled with hoards of tourists. The Boot changed ownership 3 years ago, we discovered, and is now owned by... more

Great village, lovely views and countryside, great base for walking. Lovely beer garden and well kept beer!! Super playground for kids and plenty of seating outside. Had to book DBB as it was after April30th. Rooms dated, need re-furb, but bedding clean and at least we had a family room (so hard to find) Rooms very hot at night, only... more

After reading some of the negative reviews about this place I was concerned. However, after many walks in the Eskdale Valley I'd always seen this pub and wanted to stay in it. I'd been to the Brook House for a drink and was scared by the stuffy League of Gents atmos. The location is great, the beer garden lovely, local... more

Boot village is one of the most unspoilt and friendly hamlets in the Lakes, a super area for hiking and generally relaxing. Boot Inn is a really lovely pub, full of atmosphere, extremely friendly and welcoming staff, dog friendly which we like. Food is good too. Unfortunately the rooms really let the place down. The rooms need a bit of... more

Booked here by mistake, meant to book another place down the road. Glad I made the mistake. Off the beaten track, not the usual Lake District herds. Great Beer, really friendly & welcoming staff and a lovely open fire. The rooms were comfortable and clean with fantastic views over the Eskdale Valley. Dinner and Breakfast were fantastic. An absolute bargain. more

We have just returned after spending 4 days at this friendly pub. We were a little worried after reading a couple of the previous reviews however we need not have been - we had a great time. The Boot Inn is in a fabulous location for walking from the door - we didn't need the car which was nice! A... more

I stoppped here with my Girlfriend back in March 2006 for 2 nights. All rooms are located above the Inn and whilst very clean needed some refurbishment. The pub below has a great atmosphere and serves some of the best food in the village. Everyone has to be in their rooms by 11pm as the alarm is set downstairs behind... more

We booked a '4 nights for the price of 3'. Some confusion on arrival when shown to an 'already occupied' room. Then shown to room 7 which was OK, but really needed refurbishment. We reported that our toilet would not flush properly on the first day, and again on the 2nd day. (The only way it would flush involved taking... more
