The Brook House Inn is set in a very quiet location, although initially upon seeing it from the map situated on a road, I was dubious about this. An evening there though spent mainly outside on the terrace by the road saw about one car an hour go past - this really is almost the end of a road to... more

Our stay at the Brook House Inn was excellent from start to finish. Great location for walking. Gorgeous food and they even made us a packed lunch every day - we especially liked the homemade gingerbread! The staff could not have been friendlier. The rooms were comfortable and spotless. Overall I would thoroughly recommend it! Thanks! more

Getting away from it all in beautiful countryside and in a warm comfortable inn sums up the experience we had over 4 days. Didn't use the car once. There are great walks from the front door to suit all types - level riverside to high fells. the waterfall walk is lovely but the walks over the hills surrounding Boot are... more

Totally relaxing. We usually stay for 4 nights DB&B, park the car and hardly use it during our stay. The Ravenglass & Eskdale miniature steam railway is a few minutes walk away. Buy a day ticket and you can hop on and off. Walks from the doorstep include gentle riverside strolls, steady climbs to the nearby waterfalls and tarns to... more

We both had a nice break at the Brook House Inn. The accomadation is of a high standaed & tastefully decorated & furnished. The food in the restaurant was as always excellent & the bar has a good selection of real ales & is run by two brothers owen & Hywell who are very friendly & welcoming. This was our... more

The food was superb, as was the real ale; and the malt whisky "Tour of Scotland" was so good I took 2 trips! The service was friendly and thorough. The drying room was really useful, as we had got soaked during the day. The breakfast was also the best we had all week - it was nice that there was... more

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the Brook House Inn.,Boot. What a gem of a place. Ideally located for walking in beautiful surroundings or touring the lakes. Welcoming of walkers and dog friendly in bar. A family run establishment, very friendly with good standard clean accommodation. Food is very good with a varied menu, great selection of mainly... more

Our self-guided ramble that day started in Coniston and ended here at Brook House Inn where we stayed for two nights. The staff was friendly and clearly interested in making sure we were comfortable and happy whether it was over breakfast or at the pub. They helped us with the timetable for the steam train to Ravenglass just down the... more

Just spent four nights at Brook House. A great place for walking, eating and drinking. Everything you could want, great walks from the doorstep, peace and quiet, a clean warm room and plenty of hot water. We found everyone friendly and helpful; the food was excellent, better than your average pub but didn't crossed the line into a poncy 'gastro-pub'.... more

We've been staying at Brook House for many years as it gave us all that we could have wanted for a holiday in Eskdale - fantastic location, coupled with excellent food, beer and wine, very friendly hosts, and good accommodation. We moved up to Cumbria in 2004 and are now only an hour and a half from Brook House but... more
