If you want to get away from it all in the Lake District, in peaceful, elegant surroundings with excellent food and service then you can find no better place. Dogs are genuinely welcome with suitable quick walks in the grounds, not forgetting it is within easy distance of good fell walking. The room was very comfortable with an immaculately clean... More

Right from the greeting as we entered and were shown our delightful room, the carrying of our luggage upstairs and downstairs to said room, we knew we had come to the right place for 3 days of R&R. The ambiance, delicious meals and amazing service, all created an atmosphere of country charm not seen in too many places around the... More

A perfect Georgian House set in its own grounds and off the tourist trail. So many places say they welcome dogs and then charge at least £10 a night! There are no such charges here. The grounds have a lovely woodland walk, dogs can stay by their owners in the bar or hall sitting room and if your dog is... More

A very relaxed weekend, wonderful service, amazing staff who were very friendly - nothing felt like too much trouble. Food was of an exceptionally high standard - the best lobster I have ever tasted! Recommend ordering a Singapore sling cocktail...... Monty dog was made to feel welcome, the board walk through the woodlands was beautiful. So enjoyed it, have booked... More

The moment you arrive you are welcomed. The suites are excellent and you couldn't want for anything. The food was fantastic as was the service. All the staff seem to be relaxed and have time to talk. We enjoyed our stay here very much. The location maybe out of the way for some enjoying the Lake District but for us... More

This was our second stay at Overwater, the first being four years ago, and once again we weren't disappointed. Difficult to find fault, lovely room, superb food, a very friendly welcome with attentive staff throughout, and a hotel that genuinely welcomes dogs rather than putting up with them. A lovely, peaceful setting to re-charge the batteries. Go soon, you'll love... More

Stayed here with my husband as a romantic getaway. Was lovely that we were able to bring the dog - she was welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the woodland walk around the hotel. We hadn't initially planned to eat at the hotel (not sure our doggy would behave if left alone in the room) but took the chance and were really... More

Stayed at this hotel about 18 months ago, and enjoyed it very much so .we returned again this week. The staff are very attentive, and welcoming. We had a lovely well equipped room, and just as before the food was excellent. Enjoyed walking with the dog each morning in the extensive grounds. Just before we left a red squirrel came... More

We only live about 10 miles from Overwater Hall but it was still a great place to go for a night and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, switch off and relax. The food was fabulous, some of the best we have ever had. Our room was lovely and it was great to be able to take our dogs with us and... More

This is quiet small hotel with a friendly, but not pushy group of staff who look after you excellently with polite, but not stuffy decorum. The room was well equipped and comfortable and the food was great (both breakfast and dinner) Remember to take a shirt for the evening! Dogs really are welcomed. The grounds are teaming with birds as... More
