We booked the Windermere 8 (luxury) lodge and it truly was luxurious. Thick carpets, leather sofa, fan over, sepereate fridge and freezers, dishwasher, en suite in master bedroom. The fittings and fixtures were flawless. the living space was very good - enough seating for 8 plus a full size dining table for a further 6 - great for those late... more

We booked the holiday online with RCI and expected cleaner, more spacious accomodation. The setting of our Lodge was appreciated more the longer we stayed. It was peaceful and the wildlife was lovely. However, the Lodge itself was small for six people with barely enough seating. The bedrooms were small and quite claustrophobic with no drawers or "dressing table" space.... more

Our lodge was unclean, we found crusty tissues in the sofa bed, dirty toilets and the windows were so dirty it was hard to see out. We had problems with our emerssion tank which litterally boiled over and dripped water through light fittings and ceiling. it took 2 days for anyone to come and we had no hot water for... more

The staff were friendly enough and we had one meal on site which was tasty and good value. The location was excellent and if you enjoy the outdoors and walking you will enjoy this quiet part of Cumbria. We stayed in a two bedroom lodge (Kent) which was clean enough but tired looking, There were holes in the living room... more

Our family of 5 (children ages 13, 12 and 8) have just arrived back from a week at Brockwood Hall. We had a great week in a comfortable Helvellyn lodge. Comparing it to a few friends' holidays in caravans, our lodge cost about the same, but was spacious, clean and comfortable. The view from our patio-veranda was gorgeous. There was... more

Recently stayed at Brokwood Hall - (7 adults and 1 baby). We stayed in White Combe Lodge - lovely views (despite a few invasive trees)... the lodge was reasonable in size, but lacked attention to detail. When we arrived we noticed there were only 7 egg cups - the 8th being on the balcony filled with fag ends. There was... more

Awful, dismal and the food was mediocre - those are the good aspects. The staff did their best but were poorly paid (according to one honest soul) and not really trained well. This place is a terrible example of a throwback to MVI/timeshare fiascos. There are many other places to go to in this area. Avoid this one. It needs... more

I had read some bad reviews on here before we got there so keeping an open mind we stuck with it. Unfortunately Brockwood Hall's fantastic setting is completely let down by, the lack of cleaniness, poor facilities and out of date interior. We only managed to stay for one night, as we discovered bed bugs, fortunately for us this salvaged the holiday. The bar and restaurant area is very basic, and has a great stereo, as we discovered whilst listening to... more

We are, of course, very sorry for this occurrence. It was indeed very unfortunate that you made this single discovery. As you know, other accommodation was offered, and declined due to your own experiences a couple of weeks earlier in your home. As stated, a full refund was given with no hesitation and no other issues were raised at this...

Just back from Brockwood Hall. Stayed in Lodge No. 15. Very dark. Think it had been refurbished but certainly not the standard we have come to expect through exchanging with R.C.I. Amenities were very lacking! Restaurant only had 5 tables and bar area looked like a canteen. Only ate in one evening - nothing to actually complain about but quite... more

Hi there. We are sorry you did not enjoy your lodge, the surrounding area, the local town or Cumbria’s infamous road network! With regard to your lodge, it has indeed been refurbished, in December 2008: New kitchen (inc. separate fridge, freezer and dishwasher), leather sofas, main bathroom suite (inc. cladding & flooring), en-suite added to the master bedroom, cherry oak...
