My parents love this place, and I can see why. The Lake District is beautiful and this is a great place to stay (and eat and drink). The Queens Head is a very old traditional English inn. The location is lovely, the views superb, the walls are thick, the floors creak, quite a few of the beds are 4 posters... more

We stayed here for 2 lovely nights in early sept. we got room 10 i think it was a fell view room. it was very homely and the view was great!!!! the food was great but we had dinner bed and breakfast and the set menu was very limited. We found certain members of staff very kind all but one... more

We stayed at this hotel for two nights-- the room was comfortable and nicely decorated but there was constant machinery banging about somewhere which did cease about midnight. it was very annoying and disturbing so avoid room 7. we exchanged rooms with family member to room 6 which was slightly less noisy. This was the only drawback to the hotel... more

I booked this hotel for my brothers honeymoon. What a mistake, they arrived only for them to be greeted by the comment ' hope your not looking to have a meal here tonight' , since its there are no other restaraunts within walking distance it was disgraceful for them not to let me know when the room was booked over... more

Its a very beautiful place in a very beautiful location. I was on a walking holiday and I arrived on the day Hurricane Bill hit Cumbria - which meant I got the bus and arrived soaking wet and hours before my room was ready. The staff were very friendly though and were happy for me to strew my wet backpack... more

Hotel was well furnished and spotless and in a beautiful valley.. Evening meal was an excellent standard but set menu should have been different each evening, especially as there were only three choices for each course. I felt the breakfast did not live up to the standard of dinner. The cooked food was fine but the juices and yoghurts mediocre.... more

Something I've never done before. We booked this hotel for a couple of nights only because our holiday cottage wasn't available for as long as we'd have liked to stay on our walking holiday. We chose it based on the website which shows a high-end, old-fashioned boutique hotel with four posters and fabulous finish and food. Imagine our surprise when... more

We stayed at the Queens Head on Easter Sunday night. Although it was a last minute booking and we arrived after 9pm, the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We ate at the restaurant and even though we were the last table to order the food was fantastic. To still achieve that standard after... more

We were really disappointed with our meal at the Queens Head. We had booked the table a few weeks in advance and got a table near the toilets/kitchen. My meal was nice but my partner ordered a £25 steak. This steak arrived absolutely tiny. When we complained the manager wasnt very apologetic and offered no compensation. even though he acknowledged... more

This is a lovely little country inn in a beautiful part of the Lake District. We have been visiting this place for a number of years (starting with our honeymoon in 1998) and recently returned for a weekend. The inn has apparently been bought out by a brewery and we could not help noticing that it is not as good... more
