This is a good hotel, both in terms of room quality and also for dinners. Our room was well laid out with a super big bath and comfortable furnishings. Given the nature of the location with the captive audience the hotel have done well to keep their standards high. It would be very easy for them to let the standards... More

We stopped here for lunch after visiting the area. My partner has been here several times before & said it's changed a bit since his last visit (about 3 years ago!). He said their menu has gone upmarket and the loos were now very clean & modern. They had a good lunch menu & we chose to have the sharing... More

Happily, the place hasn't changed all that much since I last stayed there many years ago. Still an unspoilt residents' bar and dining room; still good beer and decent honest food; still a basic but comfortable hotel. But there has been one big change for the better, and that is the warmth of the welcome from the staff and their... More

We stayed here for the weekend in April, 4 couples. The setting is virtually unbeatable, in splendid isolation at the head of Wasdale. Two couples had rooms in the old hotel itself, which were fine although a little small. We others had more modern and larger rooms in the annexe, a converted barn, which were very good. All rooms had... More

We arrived at Wasdale in sun and three days later left in rain and in between we stayed at the Wasdale Head Inn and everything was perfect. The Inn itself has its own history and iconic position and its staff ensure that all residents are provided with everything they might need to make there stay memorable. If you come to... More

We ended a village to village hike there in pouring rain. We made good time so had 3+ hrs before our ride was to meet us. While the place was packed, the staff was accommodating (used to it I'm guessing).Shared a cheese board (great), food was good, good beer choices. Would go back, tho not as a special trip.

We stopped here twice for beers during a recent camping trip and food on our second visit. I wasn't actually that hungry when I went in but had a look at the menu out of curiosity. They had sharing platters which could be either a selection of local cheeses with all the trimmings or local meats. Both came with bread... More

At the end of a tiny winding lane past Wastwater at the head of Wasdale, this inn is in a delightful setting. An amazing location, friendly welcome, clean single room, nice functional bar (cold beer, good food, seats, fire) and a brill breakfast made it the highlight of my recent trip. For anyone with an outdoor angle who wants to... More

We were camping at the local National Trust campsite - it was too cold to stay in the tent to cook so we headed up the road to the Wasdale Head Inn. Had a couple of great local ales and a hearty pie - was delicious and did the job but was a tad pricey (however all of the Lake... More

Spotted this pub whilst touring around Wastwater, treat ourselves to a nice warm drink by the open fire. Staff were very friendly and answered lots of questions about the surrounding area, including Scarfell Pike. Lots of history around the hotel, including a church and a small house. They were very kind to my dog too, bringing him a drink and... More
