Just to let anyone travelling in the Lakes we have found a hidden gem in Whitehaven. Glenfield Guest House! a very welcoming home from home. The rooms are all en suite and there is a tea/coffee tray plus biscuits in your room and they are replaced daily. the rooms are cleaned every day and towels replaced every day if required.... more

This was our first stay as part of a 4 day C2C cycling trip from Whitehaven to Sunderland. We came by train and cycled from the train station to the guest house which was up a bit of a hill but once there the welcome was friendly and the bikes were locked away securely. The guest house was large and... more

Situated 10 minutes walk up a hill from Whitehaven town centre, we had a friendly welcome when we arrived on our bikes, which were safely stored in the shed. The room was large with a huge bed and two chairs, TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was also large with bath as well as shower. Breakfast was... more

This is a really lovely guest house, situated conveniently on the main road south out of Whitehaven, but only about 10 mins walk from the harbour. Rooms are traditionally furnished, but are clean and well maintained with excellent bedding and facilities. The owners are great - exactly the kind of people who should run B&B's - caring and interested, and... more

This is a very special place and one of the nicest places we stayed while being in the Lake District. The food was wonderful, the rooms very clean and comfortable. All rooms are named after Alfred Wainwrights "Cost to Coast" Guide Book. We stayed in the St. Bees room - which was beautiful and very authentic - and just the... more

Just a quik and easy review on this one. Even if I tried to complain about something, I don't think I could. 4* is a good rating for this guest house. Don't confuse it with a 4* hotel as you will be expecting more than you get, i.e. no gym or sauna - its a guest house! The owners were... more

I stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst in Whitehaven on business.I was made very welcome by the owner who took my bags to the room and showed me the facilities. The food was excellent both the breakfast and the family evening meal. I also took advantage of the packed lunch that was offered great value and very filling.Room... more

Stayed at the Glenfield with my wife for 2 nights (7th & 8th Feb). Very friendly welcome to a very nice Guest house. Room was a good size with a great big comfy bed (lots of room to stretch out). It is in a good location just a 10 minute walk from town centre. Nice sitting room (with small bar),... more

A mixed bag! I booked this Guest House based on the 4-star rating and tempting website. The stay was very mixed, the hosts were welcoming and friendly however I am not sure how it was given a 4-star rating. The bedroom was ok but a bit shabby as was the bathroom, a decent 3-star standard but not up to scratch.... more
