I was taking part in a 150 mile cycle ride along Hadrians cycle route with 10 friends. We had been cycling for 3 and a half hours in wind and non-stop rain. When we turned up at the guest house Lyn was stood there waiting for us. We were all soaked through and covered in mud. She was very kind... More

We walked Hadrian's wall from east to west so this was our last stop before returning home. We had been very fortunate with our choice of B&B's along the 7 day walk but we certainly kept the best till last. Lyn is a brilliant host and the Old Rectory is magnificent, with beautiful clean and tidy rooms with wonderful en... More

I have to congratulate lyn and andy on what has been my absolute favourite bed and breakfast ever. We stayed here as one of our stops whilst cycling Hadrians Cycle Way for bank holiday weekend, we had two double rooms both of which where absolutely beautifully presented. The welcome from the couple and their very lovely pets was just a... More

Considering the owners are so new to the business, they are doing an absolutely excellent job. This was not only a beautiful house, it was the best B&B I stayed in whilst walking the Wall, and probably the best B&B I've stayed in for absolutely ages. I almost want to go back to Bowness just to stay there! The only... More

We were met with a fresh cup of tea and buttered malt loaf which is just what we needed after a 7 night hike along the Wall. Lyn and Andy were excellent hosts, the room was well appointed and had everything that would need for a well earned rest. Chickens in the back garden supplied part of the ample breakfast.... More

Great place, great welcome. Our room was quite compact, but had everything we needed. Breakfast and packed lunch were delicious. We ate our evening meal in the local pub which was tiny but fun. Don't forget to sign the Hadrian's Wall Walk visitors book in the pub and read the previous comments! More

The day we ended our walk was a rather wet one to say the least. However, to be greated by warm coffee and a snack was perfect. The warmth from the log burner was also very welcome. Lyn also took all the wet jackets and over trousers to dry them off for us. The bedroom was clean, cozy and gave... More

We arrived after finishing "Hadrian's wall" walk and were greeted with a cup of tea and a cream scone - lovely!! Lyn and Andy were perfect hosts, they had thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and the guest lounge was very welcoming. We liked the fresh milk provided each day and... More

This was our second stay here visiting old friends in the area. Room was large and comfy and Lyn had provided a lovely bed for our little dog not to mention a 'doggie bag' with treats and poo bags!! Delicious breakfast - like the fact that we can make our own toast from a choice of bread. Also like the... More

A superb end to a stunning walk. Lyn was so welcoming and helpful, the house is large and the rooms comfortable. Typical Cumbrian (big) breakfast! Would highly recommend More
