My now husband and I held our wedding at Makeney Hall on Friday 30th October 2009. This is a 46 bedroom hotel set in the most beautiful grounds in a village called Milford. It is an elegant victorian hotel, with so much character and charm. Most of our wedding party stayed over between 1 and 2 nights. Some enjoying the... more

Our thanks to Kay, Vorchek (I hope that is spelt correctly) and the team at Makeney Hall for making our daughter & son-in-laws wedding a very special occasion from start to finish. From the initial meetings last year, to the last drink in the early hours of the morning following the wedding, they were first class, taking all the pressure... more

Great hotel, staff were very friendly and bent over backwards to make me comfortable. Room service was great and the service at the restaurant was fantastic and the food was perfect. Will definately come again, as the hotel and grounds were perfect. The only problem is that phone reception is only avalible outside and in the restaurant. more

Me and my wife had our wedding here and we felt that that the hotel was an excellent venue with its light spacious rooms, beautiful gardens and good food. All of the staff were very accomodating and helpful, in particular our mc who was amazing, keeping the kids entertained , making sure everyone was relaxed especially the happy couple. We... more

We stayed in the courtyard area room adjacent to the main hotel. The room was large and clean. Didn't have evening meal. Had breakfast in awesome period room...... lovely sausages, cheap & nasty nitrate laden bacon. Gardens very nice. Staff efficient. Would stay again. more

We stayed for two nights in August for the occasion of our sons wedding. The hotel was an excellent venue for the event and the staff were very accomodating and helpfull. We were delighted with the way in which we were helped with anything we needed and the staff helped to make the day a memorable one for all of... more

Another return visit to this hidden gem, we can't wait to get there, even the dog gets excited on the last few miles of the journey. The relaxing comfort and genuine warmth of the staff are at the heart of this hotel and not to be missed is the new dinner menu which is superb across all three courses. Come... more

We have just returned from a two night stay at this hotel and were very disappointed with it. The rooms were looking tired and the room we had was within the enclosed courtyard area. Although this looks attractive from the outside the reality is that during the summer there is no air in the rooms and they just overheat, making... more

We booked a room for two nights to attend a family wedding in Belper. When we arrived we were disappointed to find that we had been allocated a twin room when we had requested a double. We asked if there was a possibility that we could be moved. The Duty Manager visited us in our room and apologised for the... more
