Ok, it was the one of the only places in Castleton which would take a one night booking. Booked via well known booking website which described the room as spaceous with en suite. When we arrived we did find a large bedroom but no en suite (the owner did explain only two of the four rooms had en suite but... More

Spotlessly clean & well-looked after. We were made very welcome even before we arrived as I had to phone to find it. We didn't have breakfast but the housekeeper seemed very nice and very capable so I am sure it would have been good. The big and only downside is that the beds were not comfortable. Some good quality new... More

Great location with lots of pubs on the door step. Very welcome greeting and clean rooms. To top it off a lovely Lab comes to greet you. Cant wait to come back. I found Keith the owner a very nice man. The perfect place if you want a visit to the peak district.

I hate to start reviews off with reviewing the other reviewers, but a lot of the below reviews are exactly the problem with trusting Trip Advisor. Lots of outrageous complaints about appearance and personality of the owner which are bordering on discrimination. This is a perfectly average place to stay. It is nothing special the our beds were quite poor... More

As other reviewers have pointed out the owner does not have the social skills that is typical of B & B owners but since I was expecting it based on previous reviews it didn't bother me. The staff who did the cooking and the cleaning during the morning, were very nice and friendly. The room was a good size and... More

If you find this is the only B and B available in Castleton then go some place else. The owner is scruffily turned out all other reviews re bandaged feet etc are spot on. You have to go through the kitchen area to get into the residential area and dirty pots greeted us. We are dog owners and the blurb... More

was a little worried that this would be really bad after reading reviews-but i think peoples expectations are too high!! it was cheapest room in castleton(£55 for july!)-centrally located-allowed to check in early-greeted by a friendly lady-reasonably clean and tidy-everything you want! ok there were some negatives-owner has a dog and place was a tad dog-smelly! most places are! beds... After much difficulty finding the place, knocked several times before being grumpily greeted by bare footed owner, with a bandaged foot and very sloppily dressed, and over enthusiastic dog which jumped all over me. Owner was abrupt and certainly needs to learn people skills. View into room, (reception?), showed an untidy and grubby room. Owner was insistent I enter but... More

4 of us arrived at 6p.m outside this rather shabby cottage; after knocking loudly on the door it was eventually opened and the very friendly, and lovely dog came out revealing the owner's bare toes and bandaged feet which we all found rather off-putting and his general appearance was grubby. When we entered the living room we were immediately aware of... Overall this is one of, if not THE cheapest place you will find to stay in Castleton, outside of the nearby Youth Hostel. The welcome was very warm and I was made to feel at home. The owner has a very friendly Labrador who is sometimes overly affectionate so if you don’t like dogs you won’t be particularly pleased with... More
