We stayed for two nights at the Old Lock Up and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The made to order full english breakfasts are fantastic (proper sausages and black pudding. The rooms are lovely with some great antique furniture to catch the eye. Showers could do with improving as they aren't particularly powerful. Tim (the owner) was very helpful throughout the whole... We stayed in the Old Lockup for two nights. Tim is an excellent host and his breakfast was really delicious. But what I really can recommend is the 3 course dinner. Self made bread with bruscetta was really great, same applies for the sea bass with mashed potatoes and vegetabels and finally the pavlova was the overall kick. We had... More

Tim, who runs the place, is extremely efficient, and and excellent cook to boot! I started with that, because a lot of what makes the Old Lockup so lovely are due to Tim's attention to detail and the little comforts that make a place special, clean space, great food and a nice box of chocolates when we arrived. The B&B... More

Nice clean and tidy accommodation, themed around an old police lock up. Tim the proprietor is friendly and welcoming, there when you need him. Ideally situated for travel around Derbyshire. We opted for the magistrates room and found it to be cosy and comfortable. There is a nice little self catering unit in the old carriage shed which looked nice... More

From the moment we first made contact until our departure the level of service provided by Tim was nothing short of outstanding. The attention to detail was superb and all from a man who single handedly does everything! The chocolates on the pillow were the icing on the cake. Anyone wishing a relaxing break with great food and service look... More

I went with my 6yr old son, hoping to see the ghost...! Well that was part of it, we were going to Gullivers World the following day which is 10 min drive. Tim was pleasant and couldn't be more helpful. We stayed in the coach house which is a pleasant annexe over looking the graveyard...which my son thought would be... More

I'll confess that given a choice between a big corporate hotel and a boutique hotel or B&B, I'm unequivocally with the former. I like the anonymity of the 1000-room type place, and nothing fills me with horror more than comments like "Doris and Jim make you feel completely at home, and they're happy to share the family photographs while they... Booked here after a recommendation for one night on our way to the Peak District. Both building and proprietor were welcoming after a long drive from london with Tim giving us great tips on the local area including a much appreciated overview of the nearby pubs. We stayed in the solicitor's room which was comfortable and quiet enabling us to... More

We booked this two-night break on the morning of departure and were happy with this last minute choice. As everyone says Tim is a very nice fellow who makes you welcome as soon as you arrive with a cuppa and slice of cake and after that he makes himself available as much or as little as you prefer. We were... More
