I wanted to treat my partner on valentines day and found this little gem on google. On arrival we were welcomed by they owners, a married couple, who were very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. We were shown to our room (along with a bottle of bubbly and a box of choccys) which was as described and very cute.... More

First, let's deal with the negatives. If you have never been to the Olde Forge Hotel and arrive in the dark you may, like us, miss it and drive past and have to find a place to turn around! Right, that's that out of the way! We booked for one night B&B for the Valentine's Day dinner. We were greeted... More

My girlfriend picked the Olde Forge for a birthday treat for me and boy what treat it was. If you are the type of person that likes 5 star hotels with all the mod cons and cold souless atmosphere (and I've stayed in a few) then don't come here. However if you like to be treated like a true 'guest'... More

I celebrated my 50th birthday in may2011 at Olde Forge Restaurant & Hotel with friends (locals of Herstmonceux). I enjoyed the meal immensely, and the staff is fantastic. They treat you like family (in a good way). Philip and Nicky could not make you feel more welcome. I enjoyed the whole experience so much, that I insisted we eat there... More

I chose to stay at the hotel as I was taking part in a nearby equestrian competition. From the moment I booked, the experience was lovely, Nicky and Philip were so friendly, helpful and accomodating and made every effort to fit around my demanding (and ever-changing) timetable. Hotel was very warm, clean and cosy with all the required mod-cons -... More

We stayed at The Olde Forge Hotel on an early January night in 2012. It was a night of a terrific winter storm with torrential rain and strong winds. Inside the hotel we were warm and appreciated log fires in dining room and lounge. Our bedroom, with its good sized bathroom, was warm with no draughts inspite of the winds.... More

If you like to stay in a character hotel (16th century) receive a warm welcome from your hosts Nicky and Philip, eat good quality, well cooked and presented food, relax by a log fire then this is the hotel for you. Nicky and Philip went out of their way to make my husbands surprise birthday weekend special - they even... More

Stayed here recently. I didn't write a review at the time, but having last night watched a repeat of the CH4 programme "Attack of the Trip Advisors", I felt compelled to set the record straight. Firstly the food. OK, maybe a little pricey, but quality was first rate. A welcome change to get something which is actually cooked from scratch... More

I stayed here in November with my partner who is a chef. We had read good reviews about the restaurant and booked a two nite stay. We normally only stay at four star hotels and this a two star but as the room rates were very reasonable and a great menu we booked. We thought we were going to be... More

I was made extremely welcome with my Papillons. There were fields for them to walk in and room to put their soft cages in my room. The food and hospitality was fantastic and I will definately stay there again even if I only come down once a year, for the Agility Competition. However, I will be recommending to friends and...
