I had booked a laterooms bargain for £80 instead of a business rate of £130.

We arrived a little early and were met by a very pleasant young French gentleman who said "because we are quiet I will give you a nice room".

The room was really nice, beautiful roll tap bath, French furniture and furnishings. Away from the main house, very pleasant. A nice stroll into Thirsk as the menu was a bit too rich for our liking, but would please those who like fine dining as the restaurant was in lovely surroundings.

However, have to say that the soundproofing between floors was not great. The couple above us seemed to walk around for hours, all resounding on our ceiling and keeping us awake. There was a sign outside our window which was lit up until quite late and shone into the bedroom.

But, for eighty quid I thought it was excellent value. My breakfast was great, the full English. My husband had the kippers but found them tasteless. Plenty... more
