A 17th century building that has been modernised without losing it's character (mind your head if you're over 6ft). Spacious rooms with a really comfy bed and refreshingly powerful drench shower. We booked at 6pm for that evening and still found a room for under £50. The town in the evening is lovely with the church lit up and a... More

Stayed for 1 night on 30th march and it was brill. Large room, lovely and clean. Very quiet once in room which surprised me very much so slept fine, just a trip downstairs for breakfast which was cheap and tasty. Would certainly stay again for price and the staff were extremely friendly.

We booked this hotel on the recommendation of a family member who lives in Thirsk and booked it well in advance one evening via the duty manager at the end of January because we were going to a family celebration at the end of March and needed a family room. When we arrived after a long and tiring drive from... More

A great stay! Room above the pub, all quiet by 11.30pm. Massive family room, £50 for the night, breakfast £3 each. Perfect for us! It's what you would expect, bit noisy in evening but right on the square in thirsk and really helpful staff. Not a boutique couples hotel but a bargain and a step up from travelodge for similar... It's really hard to find anything good to say about this place...When it first opened the place was not too bad, pretty much on a par with every other Wetherspoons. However, the place has gradually got worse and worse and now I won't even put a foot through the door. On my last visit: My food arrived un-cooked (ordered a... More

Used this hotel which is part of the Wetherspoon's chain for a base to stay while attending Thirsk races. In the market square , shops , bars and restaurants on your doorstep and a ten minute stroll to the racecourse. Hotel room was clean, large and quirky with walls and floors running at all angles due to the age of... More

i stayed in rm 4- at the front of the pub, over looking the market. The room was ideal for us- a family of 3. small but efficient bathroom- nice beds/bedding. Clean and surprizingly quiet!..even tho it was a friday night, and i expected to be kept awake by drinkers down stairs- we were not... and no early market setting... More

We have been to this Wetherspoons on several occasions in the past, the food was good (on our last visit) service as you would expect.......... we called in after a walk around the town centre, had a few drinks in front of the open fire, we didn't book a room, no reason, we just stayed at The Golden Fleece (see Review)...
