We had a beautiful room which was very well designed and nice finishing touches, such as fluffy bathrobes. The bar was very pleasant and Kirsty was most helpful. Just returned from an enjoyable staty at this hotel. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming, the room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was large and very well appointed. The restaurant is very nice and the food good and well presented. with an excellent choice on offer. Would stay at Oswalds again if in that area. more

My husband and I spent the weekend here as we were going to Thirsk races. The village of Sowerby is a 5 min walk from Thirsk centre and a 10/15 min walk to the racecourse. When booking be sure to ask for a room that is not above the bar/restaurant unless you plan being up for the night. Unfortunately we had an early start so this was a bit of a disaster. Otherwise the room was nice, staff were really welcoming and dinner was good. more
