Gravetye is a super place to stay. The manager is so welcoming, and while the rooms can be quirky, that's one of the positives. This was, after all, a real manor house - not a marriot 1970s blueprint! The newer extension room (though it is hard to tell it - its very well done) had a great shower (we've stayed... more

It was one of the best decisions we made in our life to stay overnight at Gravetye after flying in from Belfast and before our Virgin Upper Class flight [highly recommended] to the West Indies the next day. The hotel sent a car and driver - very pleasant - to pick us up at Gatwick and effortlessly transport us to... more

My family and I stayed for two nights in two rooms. The hotel is charming, and enjoys a fantastic location. The staff in the main are very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were spacious, and not surprisingly in a hotle of this age were quirky. However I was disappointed with the quality of the rooms, lacking modern bath rooms, only... more

We have been visiting Gravetye for 30 years: through its new addition, its Michelin star won, lost, won, its recent byout by management. It has always, in the dozen plus visits of 1-3 days each at all times of the year, been superb. The rooms don't seem to age, the food is excellent and the staff friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and... more

We stayed at Gravetye Manor for two nights in November '06 and even though it was off season and the gardens were not at their full glory we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Still plenty of color outside and the grounds were immaculately kept. Beside that, the hotel is so well run and charming I had fantasies of moving in permanently.... more

I've just returned from an overnight meeting held at Gravetye. We booked 10 rooms, made use of their meeting room, lounges, and restaurant. The location is very quiet with extensive grounds and gardens. The hotel is just 10 minutes off the motorway, and is easy to find. The lounges are excellent period rooms and exactly what one would expect in... more

I was excited when I read some of the reviews on Gravetye and doubly excited driving up the long driveway to the manor. The staff were friendly and welcoming and directed us to a local pub for lunch as our room wasn't ready. On arrival in our room, despite it being a good size, I was a little disappointed for... more

Gravetye Manor It is impossible for me to be totally satisfied with any hotel – with a background in the trade, a love of fine foods, knowledge of wines, utter contempt for poor service and my terrible nit picking on the accommodation front. Gravetye has me stumped. All the ingredients are already in place, oak panels, open fireplaces, huge rooms,... more

Stunning old world hotel with off-the-clock gardens, which unfortunately is somewhat dated. Although some people may find it attactive, rooms and especially the bathrooms feel like they were straight out of 1950's. Well appointed for Gatwick Airport, which again could be viewed as a plus or a minus. Dining room very crowded, and staff seemed to be somewhat lacking, which... more

Truly a five star experience. Gravetye is very old fashioned and wonderful. The manor is comforting and welcoming and the service could not be better. Stay there and enjoy the wonderful garden, the good food, and appreciate the opportunity to stay in an amazing Elizabethan manor house. more
