The hostel is located directly in and under the Daintree Rain Forest. They've done a marvelous job of maintaining a minimal impact on the area, without sacrificing quality and comfort. As detailed in previous reviews, the "rooms" are safari-style tents, with mesh walls. They are very basic, but adequate for short stays. Ours also had holes in it, but no nasty surprises during our stay, thank Goodness. We left all our valuables in our car, as there were no locks on the tents. We took full advantage of the great service offered by the staff and managed a night hike in the rainforest, a morning kayak trip, a dive on the great barrier reef and a visit to the nearby Discovery Center. We stayed at the YHA Crocodylus Village in a family room for only one night (unfortunately) and absolutely loved it! We found the friendliest staff ever at this hostel. The hostel also has a restaurant and the food is amazing! Sleeping in tents in the rainforest is something exciting which you can experience there. I definitely recommend the guided night... more

We stayed at this hotel over the Easter holidays. The "huts" are situated in the rainforest and not terribly far from one another. One of the reviewers were certainly right about hearing all the noise from fellow guests. The rainforest setting is very nice, however the noise from the other guests really spoils it. We stayed here a couple of weeks ago and were pleasantly impressed after having read mixed reviews. Basically, you stay in large safari tents which are located right in the rainforest - it can be a little dark and gloomy even in the middle of the day, but you really do get the feeling of being at one with nature!... more
