We stayed here for one night recently when passing through Charters Towers. The motel owner/manager is very friendly and helpful but the motel itself is in bad need of some refurbishment. I don't expect 3-star motels to be too flash, but this was pretty grotty - really dirty, stained carpet, kind of smelly rooms, broken knobs on the air conditioner. I wouldn't stay here again. We also had dinner in the bistro which is in a lovely old heritage building. Unfortunately, not a good experience. It took well over an hour for our meals to arrive and it was not even very busy. We ordered a Greek salad and seafood platter to share. The salad took over an hour to arrive and the seafood platter was another 25 minutes behind that - and it's not like it was anything fancy! We opted to have brekky at Macca's in the morning in case we were still waiting for our breakfast to arrive at lunchtime! more
