Myself and a friend stayed here during a tour of western Queensland. Our hosts were only too happy to help and the rooms were spotlessly clean. I stayed in an ensuited room upstairs on the balcony. The room had new air conditioning and a new wall mounted tv. Reasonably priced, well located. Henry's cafe just down the road served a... More

Unique experience. Forget standard hotel chains and cheap motels. If you want to steep yourself in the history of the town this is the place to stay. Full of antiques, books and curiosities, comfortable beds and bedlinen, good power showers and spa baths too. Communal kitchen facilities if required. But what makes this really special is the friendliness and generosity... More

For a magnificent building such as the Royal Private Hotel on the corner of Marion & Mosman St Charters Towers, a building that appears to be constantly improving by comforts while remaining frozen in time back to 1888 from when it was rebuilt. Originally an iron bark pub it has come a long way to express its beauty to the... More

This Hotel is a unique experience, the hotel and the welcome from the staff is from a bygone era. Apart from Electricity, TV and Air Con, leave the 20 and 21 century behind when you arrive at this hotel. The hotel seems to be from the gold rush era and apart from the modern essentials mentioned above the hotel seems... More

I looked up this establishment on Trip Advisor on my mobile phone on the way into Charters Towers from Far NQ. We arrived about 7pm Tues nite. We went in to see availability of a room and the decor in the reception and the owner were most welcoming. We were looking for comfortable accom with reasonable facilities and we got... More

We spend just one night in this well-priced, nice hotel on our trip from the coast to the Uluru. The rooms are nice, clean and have all you need. Also WiFi is for free and quite fast, kitchen and laundry is also offered. The old fashioned look makes it special. If you wish to stay for a few days we... More

I recently spent 6 nights at the Royal Private Hotel during a junior cricket competition in Charters Towers. For me the Royal was a perfect place to stay, my room was clean and comfortable, I had access to a well equipped and clean kitchen and I was made to feel extremely welcome by Trish and Grace, who are both great... The room was very comfortable and the hostess very welcoming. Unfortunately the stay was spoilt by noisy party goers on the outside balcony. A very unique place to stay but make sure you query the owners regarding party nights.
