We only stayed for one night at the end of our 3 week Oz adventure. A great hotel, really helpful staff (thanks Ben especially), good food and a really lovely setting. We had had 9 nights in Port Douglas and the Daintree and if you are planning a trip to the area for a while I would recommend going further... more

The chalets at Silky Oaks Lodge, which is under new management after being sold by Voyages, are scattered up a hillside amongst the rainforest above the Mossman River. They are spacious and well-equipped (even with a large torch), with a veranda furnished with table, chairs and a hammock. Make sure you get a chalet down near the main buldings if... more

I was in Magnetic Island's Horshoe Bay on my yacht and found out about this fabulous resort in the Daintrees, right on the Mosman river. I flew to Cairns, was picked up and had a very lovely limo drive to Port Douglas - what a road, in the same league as the Great Ocean Roads in both Victoria and California-... more

Having seen previous reviews on this site and a glimpse of one on "Getaway" TV show I booked a suprise birthday weekend for my wife. We arrived, me with uncertainty and my wife with excitement. Well from the moment we arrived until we dragged ourselves away two days later the experience was sensational. There are a good many businesses in... more

Fantastic location Restaurant brilliant, food excellent staff really friendly. Lodges I thought needed a total overhaul. Very nice and clean but seemed a bit outdated but I thought not up to 5 star standard. I would have put them at a 3 rather than a 5 The location is magnificent which more than makes up for the lodge's which is... more

The resort is located on a really beautiful bend of the Mossman river and the dining / lounge rooms have spectacular views of the gorge. We only stayed 1 night but got upgraded to one of their Riverview rooms. The room was very nice with a great bed and view, but if you consider the prices then I think they... more

Silky Oaks is quite a special place in terms of its location (adjacent to the Daintree rainforest) and the way in which the design of the resort has been blended successfully (IMHO) with its surroundings. We enjoyed our stay there, and we would consider a return visit, especially since new management takes over in 2 days' time, as of the... more

The perfect rainforest and riverside location away from the crowds of Port Douglas. Difficult to leave the breakfast setting, bush walks, river kayaking, hammock and jacuzzi –we didnt even get to hit the tennis courts or the swimming pools! Looking forward to our next visit already. more

Maybe it's unfair to compare it to how I remember it 15 years ago, but it's not the same place. The staff were great, there is no doubting that. Anna (or Anne, I apologize for forgetting her name) made about 12 phone calls to get us on a snorkeling trip considering it was school holidays and i hadn't pre-booked. She... more

I stayed there 4 nights this Easter for a quick getaway and got a very reasonably priced deal. The lodge was well frequented by mostly couples, some soloists like me and a few families, though not fully booked at the time. As there are already heaps reviews by others, I would just like to add a few notes on what... more
