Where do we even begin? Marae was the perfect choice for our stay in the Port Douglas area. It is close enough to all of the action, but tucked away in beautiful Mossman where the sights and sounds make you feel as though you are in a tropical paradise. And you are! Pam and John were fabulous hosts. They were... More

Simply idyllic. We spent 5 nights at Marae, and could easily have stayed a lifetime! Pam and John are gracious and attentive hosts whose priority is the comfort of their guests. Marae is a haven of peace and tranquillity off the beaten track with easy access to Port Douglas, the Mossman Gorge, Daintree Forest, and the Great Barrier Reef. Highly... More

We very much enjoyed our recent stay here for 2 nights. John and Pam are very interesting people and were so hospitable. Breakfast of pancakes and fresh fruit was delightful on the patio. The room is very nice and you have this lovely pool and garden right outside the door. The location is quiet and outside of Port Douglas in... More

Positive, positive, positive! People, place, vibe, it was just fantastic. Pam and John are lovely hosts that couldn't do enough for you but also gave you plenty of privacy. Pam's breakfasts are amasing. Better than restaurant quality and the surrounds are breath taking.

We stayed at the Marae for 6 nights. We are a retired couple travelling with an old friend. We had not read the reviews on Trip Advisor and had booked on the strength of googling their website. We were looking for a place to stay in or near Pt Douglas...where a single person could stay with some level of economy.... More

We came to Port Douglas for the Great Barrier Reef. We arrived to find we were in the tropics. Marae contributed to our enjoyment of land as well as sea. It's well-situated on a quiet hillside out of town toward the rainforest. Our large room is beautiful with distinctive wood appointments - elegant rustic, with an emphasis on elegance and... More

We could not have asked for a better base to explore the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Forest. This B&B is located just outside Port Douglas, which I think is a much nicer town than bustling Cairns. John and Pam are unbelievable hosts and very interesting people; they will take good care of you. Our room had A/C, a canopy... More

We agree with all the previous comments, this B&B is a must to stay in if you are in the Port Douglas or Mossman area. We own a B&B so we know what standards should be met and Pam & John's B&B exceeded our expectations. Their attention to detail, friendly service & exceptionaly good breakfast is something not to be... More

A short drive from Mossman center, set on a hill amidst lovely landscaping with a variety of birds fluttering about and, overlooking Mossman Gorge is Marae. With a genuinely warm welcome from hosts John and Pam, the stage is set for a delightful experience. No attention to detail is overlooked in regards to room comfort and breakfast which, starting with... More

My husband and I received a recommendation for this B&B from a co-worker and decided to stay at Marae for four days during our honeymoon. John and Pam were wonderful hosts, so hospitable and gracious. Each day we were treated to a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, bread and hand-squeezed juice, among other things. The B&B is set on a... More
