Really nice old hotel situated in the heart of Swaffham. Went August Bank Holiday with 29 motorcycling friends. We were made very welcome. 3 real ales in the the bar and good food in the restaurant. The staff made a fuss of Daisy my Bischon & she loved the attention. O. K. so the tiles in the bathrooms are old... more

The rooms were just dreadful..we had to change to a second one... The first room (116)had no wifi, when I rang reception I was just told they would 'check it later' (!) I went down to ask about it, a lady checked and agreed it wasn't available in our room and we were changed to another. This did have wifi... more

I'd been to the hotel before, so I had a good idea what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the standard was better than I remembered. The room was comfortable and not overwarm. The food in the restaurant was excellent with one of the best T-bone steaks I've had in years. Will I be going back?... more

The George is a friendly unpretentious hotel which is clean and comfortable. Although the decor is set firmly in the 1970s, the lounge is filled with comfortable easy-chairs, there is a good bar where you can have meals too, and the restaurant. The room had all amenities and was clean with comfortable beds and tea making facilities. The restaurant serves... more

My wife and I recently had a thoroughly enjoyable four night stay at the George, using the hotel as a base to tour North Norfolk. The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and the service couldn't be faulted. In short, it was superb customer service. On my own admission I have a healthy appetite but the portions at... more

Just retuned home from a lovely weekend away in Norfolk. My husband & I wanted to escape the hustle & bustle of the city and decided The George Hotel in Swaffham would be an ideal base to explore Norfolk. On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome the receptionist was very helpful and happy to advise us of what... more

Stayed in this hotel as we had a wedding in the area. I have to say I was not impressed at all. There was a smell of cabbage as we walked in which wasn't that pleasant. The decor in the main areas was ok, however our room left a lot to be desired. I felt as if I was staying... more

We stayed for a long weekend at this hotel, as we were in the area for a wedding. The public areas of the hotel are fine, and the Green Restaurant is nice for breakfast, however the rooms themselves leave a lot to be desired. We actually changed room, and although the second room was much smaller than the first, at... more

Bless them, they did try. Staff were nice, helpful and friendly. Though I think they tried to direct me in the opposite direction to where I wqanted to trvel. Alas... for the uncooked lamb in the restaurant: I know it's meant to be rare... but this was still bleating. The rooms were something from a bygone age I haven't seen... more
