A very good hotel. Magnificent traditional interiors, superb food served in a grand dining room with large tables and plenty of space and very good value. Excellent car parking. We have stayed there twice this year. We cannot recall a better hotel in terms of ambience, quality and value.

One wednesday each month at the orwell they have Ladies do lunch.I have been twice this year , and i really enjoyed my lunch.First there is a cookery demonstration,then a two coarse meal followed by coffee,plus a cocktail demonstration.The food was first class.the cost is £17 which i feel is good value.There is a car park at the rear.

Impressive on the web, it seems to stay in a museum. Also if clean, poor maintenance in the room. Don't select first floor on the main road: noice will disturb. I was expecting more also from the breackfast. One time one shot, I will test others in the area.

Comfortable and fairly clean although had to remove dust from surfaces. Fairly hard but reasonably comfortable bed.Creaking floors and no sound proofing. Went to an 80th party and stayed in room 100. Very nice. The food was absolutely brilliant and service superb. The local lamb and fish was out of this world and everything was very reasonably priced. It is an old style hotel so don't expect swish - but bags of character and not far from anywhere.

We decided on a last minute short break to combat the freezing Easter weather and were really pleased that we chose the Orwell.
