Firstly we stayed after attending a Christmas party in the seperate function room (which they catered for ok (just) but nothing spectacular). We checked in easily at the reception and were 'pointed' into the direction of the room which was above the function suite in what I think is called the barn. No help with bags was offered and in... more

We expected to see Basil Fawlty any moment, but needn't have worried because there was no management present. The room wasn't available on arrival (and our cases were then put in the wrong room so had to be retrieved at midnight) and things deteriorated from there. The bar was filthy and service non existent. At 6am we were woken by... more

My partner and i arrived at the Powdermills at about 6.30pm on Friday 13th November. We were greeted warmley by a lovely young lady Rachel. She promptly booked us in and showed us to our junior suite. Once she had gone. i noticed rather a large crack in the sunken bath. Being rather shall we say a portley fellow, i... more

First disappointment was having to carry my large suitcase and bag up a winding staircase. I am almost 70 and was offered no help. Second disappointment was the room, or should I say cupboard it was so small and up in the attic overlooking the kitchen roof. When I complained I was relunctantly given a room on the ground floor.... more

We stayed in a Junior Suite for three nights Sunday through Wednesday in September. The break got off to a bad start when we received a call from the hotel two days before we were due to arrive. We were told that the restaurant would be closed on Sunday night for a private party, so no food would be available.... more

A large number of us stayed here for two nights in July for a family wedding. Beautiful grounds with lakes gave us plenty to explore while lovely old brick buildings with a sense of grandeur (if slightly faded) and plenty of history (They produced powder for the Napoleonic Wars) added to the experience. As the wedding was on a Thursday,... more

We stayed here for 1 night, staying in an executive room. The hotel is on gorgeous grounds with lush greenery and it's own lake. The hotel has rooms in the main building and an outbuilding. Our room was spacious and overlooked the pool area. Whilst the room has been refurbished recently (including a flat screen tele) there were 2 downsides... more

Took my parents away for a short break and was recommended this hotel by another hotel in the area that was full. Did a quick check on line and the website looks okay, and as is listed by Johansens assumed it would be worth a try. The estate and gardens are really nice, and the food in the restaurant was... more

This hotel is set in beautiful Kentish countryside. Several centuries ago it was the site of a gunpowder factory - hence the name. We had an executive room with lovely views of a lake. Tha staff were attentive and helpful. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was ordinary. The gardens were tended by full time gardeners and everything looked... more

Powdermill Hotel is located on beautiful grounds that my partners and I enjoyed exploring and picnicing on. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast and dinner we had there were very nice and the food was quality. Unfortunately I don't think I would recommend a stay at this hotel because we didn't have hot water for an entire day.... more
