Fantastic carvery in this great located English country hotel , deep in the Ashurst wood. Ideal stop off for a nibble and a pint after a walk , The staff were lovely I asked for a sausage with my roast (a bit cheeky) and the waitress brought me two sizzling bangers, nice !

My husband, sister and I spent a night at the Roebuck and and we could not fault it. Our rooms were spotlessly clean, the beds were extremely comfortable, the food in the bar was excellent and the breakfast was superb. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We wished that we could have stayed longer but we will be back.... More

Stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The staff were all efficient and friendly. The rooms were well designed as they all looked over countryside rather than the road. The rooms were also clean with great tvs. Yes, they are in a 60s (ish) add-on but that's fine. Some of the furniture could perhaps do with an update... More

Three nights in this lovely old inn on the edge of Ashdown Forest and could happily have stayed for longer. Although the roof was under repair with scaffolding everywhere, the welcome was warm and the bedrooms were comfortable, immaculately clean, bright and well equipped. The public areas were comfortable and offered a range of seating options. Breakfasts were great and... More

My family and i went to the Roebuck for lunch on bank holiday Monday. The building is having some work done to the roof which looks extensive and the whole place seems to be having a very much needed face lift.I found it to be a nice place but is in need of a good clean the furniture is a bit... This is a top notch choice for the fabulous walking and other attractions in the area, with genuinely friendly and helpful staff for whom nothing was ever too much trouble. This is also a dog-friendly hotel that is very flexible for dog owners, ensuring a wonderful stay, while at the same time being very respectful of those without dogs who... More

we were heading for the pub down the road where we had been before, but the car park was full so we decided to try the Roebuck. Must say very glad we did, as it was a really nice place to have sunday lunch. The menu is rather small, but everything was very nicely presented, and the ambience very good, spacious tables,all... Stayed here again and was another wonderful stay. This place is full of character. Our room was lovely and warm and the bed is soo comfortable. Bathroom and carpets are a little tired but this reflects in the cost. Nothing else, food service and hospitality doesn't. Great ambience in the bar/restaurant. Food cooked to perfection with a good choice and... More

The hotel allows you to leave your car for collection after departure which was very useful in my case. I couldn't fault this hotel and for what you pay this seems very good value if this is your desired location.
