Fortunately we only stayed at this hotel for one night while attending a wedding at the nearby Ashdown Park Hotel, so we only used our room to dress and sleep. Unfortunately the hotel was booked on our behalf as part of a large party so we hadn't researched it. Our room must last have been decorated in the '80s. Toilet... more

Read the reviews and take note - they are all bad for a reason! We made the error of not researching this place and paid the price. The rooms have not been updated since the 1970s with really bad green suites that are falling apart. The beds are great if you don't like sleeping and fancy a few days of... more

I too wished that I had checked this site before I booked. This place is not good. Don't make the mistake we made - do not stay there, spend your money on something much nicer. I couldn't find accommodation in Hartfield or any of the other surrounding and rustic villages in the area and having read the website for the... more

Horrible. I was in a party of three in two rooms. The double (which was meant to be a twin!) was dirty and dusty. The walls were barely plastered and had bits of the ceiling falling out!! We even found a lump of the wall in the sink, which by the way barely worked! The one room which was en-suite,... more

Undoubtedly the worst hotel, my wife and I had ever had the misfortune to stay at! Our room was dusty, bathroom dirty, someone else's shirt hanging in the wardrobe, used soap in the bathroom, dirty beer glass in the bedroom, uncomfortable bed, no private parking as advertised on the website. I can't comment on breakfast since our travel plans meant... more

Both the website and external appearance of this hotel are very misleading. Although the lounge/bar area is acceptable and inviting even, it appears their budget didn't stretch to covering the actual accommodation. Following the nauseatingly patterned carpet upstairs and dogding several spiders large enough to consume a small child, we entered our room to find a decor even the 1970s... more

I, too, wish that I had read the trip advisor comments before booking this hotel. I was foolishly seduced by the pretty picture of the outside of this "hotel", and suffered similar experiences as the other correspondents. Fortunately we managed to park in the little lane behind the hotel, (this was the only good thing about the whole stay!). In... more

It's times like this when I realise how important it is to write reviews. I just wish I had read Anna Parry's review on this site. She was spot on!! Room might have been ok 20 years ago but now worn out which makes the website photos very misleading. We asked to change room due to the noisy fan outside... more

This hotel needs a complete refurbishment to bring it up to even a 1* standard. The rooms are grubby with little natural light. The furnishings are ancient and we did not use the electrical appliances for fear of being blown up. There was even exposed elecrical wiring above our bed which incidentally was a lumpy uncomfortable double. Breakfast was very... more
