Very disapointing.Stayed for one night and wouldnt have stayed for second. Not much of a welcome,no offer of showing us to our room etc,the hotel part of the pub feels like its in a seveties time warp, shabby without the "chic".Desperatley needs a makeover.Make sure if you are returning after 11.30 pm that your Sherlock skills are up to finding the rear... My Wife and I stayed at the Chequers Inn recently, it is a lovely traditional pub with a modest hotel which is all that is required. There is a fantastic range of beers and food on offer, the staff and owner are friendly and full of character. The rooms are modest but comfortable, I would certainly recommend this venue to... More

this hotel has a very bad name locally with all tradesmen, everything is done as cheaply as possible especially when you present a bill and dont get paid, the owner also has a habit of locking the hotel at night before he goes home in his ferrarri and leaving the hotel unattended with no night porter,in fact he has been fined for... Stayed at premises whilst on a visit to the area, self plus wife and eldest daughter with her husband. We asked for and got two rooms with easy access because we needed to take some special equipment. Rooms were neat and tidy and beds comfortable for an overnight stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Noted other comments about credit card problems... More

The pub is old & nice with decent beers. The rooms are old-fashioned but OK for a night. My friend & I stayed for 1 night following a super reunion going back 40 years & the pub was perfect for that. We checked out the next morning, splitting the £75 room charge 50/50 and the resultant sum appeared on mr... More

I'm not someone who is that picky about hotels, and have travelled to many places, but this was poor on so many levels. The manager put us in the incorrect room, which we queried and was told that it was fine as there were no double rooms left and wouldn't be charged anything extra for the family room (despite us... Stayed for one night and needed to check-in early. As our room hadn't been vacated yet, we were upgraded to a four-poster room to store our bags and change. After attending an event nearby the room was cleaned and ready for use. No complaints there. The hotel could do with redecorating/modernising and better organisation on the management side. The staff... More
