I would first off like to say thankyou to all staff at the Zanzibar who made us feel so welcome and honestly like VIP's! On arrival we was greeted with a lovely glass of Champagne and welcomed into the hotel we was told to treat it like our home and enjoy and relax. We was then shown to our suite... more

I have just spent my second 1 night stay at the Zanzibar and will be back, rooms comfortable, decor great, the most appealing thing i found was the warm reception given by the duty manager who remembered me from my first visit. Downside to description on a web-site, states massage available...... as someone who suffers back problems this would have... more

We had been really looking forward to staying here and Hastings has some wonderful places to see. Unfortunately, this BnB is very overpriced, noisy, dirty and cursed by its location. Given the premium price, the staff are surprisingly disinterested and apathetic. The breakfast was also late and disappointing. Luckily the rest of the trip was great! more

Stayed here in September for a weekend Good points - excellent decor - excellent breakfast - pretty garden Bad points - room wasnt cleaned properly (cobwebs and a broken lightbulb) - location (immediate surrounding are on the main coast road in desolate bedsit land and 30 mins walk to Hastings) - bed hurt are backs - if you stay in... more

My husband and I stayed here over the bank holiday weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I've never been to Hastings before but wanted a change from our regular seaside haunt - Brighton. We stayed in "India" - one of the Zanzibar's mid-range rooms (but sumptuous by any other hotel's standards) - and had the most amazing time. Lei greeted... more

Beautiful inside, the rooms and garden were lovely but St Leonards is rather grotty and the 25 minute walk to Hastings Old Town was a bit bleak. But the hotel seems to be perfectly set up for cosying up with your loved one and with the attention to detail in the rooms you just needed to order a takeaway and... more

We loved the warm welcome, the extremely comfortable bed, the beautiful sea views from the big rooms at the front, the attractive decor, the good service and the delicious breakfast. Not so keen on the open-plan toilet in our room, the tiny ironing board that was hard to iron on, and being disturbed by noise from heavy traffic, other guests... more

Had a lovely couple of days here over Xmas 2008. The room was stunning with many luxurious touches and great design. Our hosts were a touch on the flaky side but it didn't dent our enjoyment. Hastings has some great bars and shops, especially in the old town. more

After a terrible journey around the M25 where the world and his dog appeared to be travelling in the same direction as us, we arrived at the Zanzibar to a lovely warm welcome by Robyn who forced (only joking!) a cold glass of bubbly down us while we caught some rays in their little back garden. Eager to see our... more

A weekend at this hotel was my birthday treat and every second of our stay was enjoyable. The reaon I am rating it a 4 rather than a 5 due to the location (St Leonards is not the nicest place, the hotel is a bit out of synch with its environment) and the price. But in the UK you do... more
