The hotel has clearly been refurbished and is presented well. Indeed, our first impressions were high, as the hotel was easy to find, clean, spacious, and had paid attention to detail. However, the first diapointment was the fact that the room we were in was in an annex building next to the hotel. This meant going through a dark alley... more

We stayed at the Camelia for one night whilst we were visiting relatives in Southend on sea last weekend. What a surprise - the pictures on the website dont do it justice. We went for a sea front suite and had a spacious lounge and bedroom and all looked newly refurbed including the bathroom. We even had a little balconey... more

Stayed here for a match and we were put in an anex away from the hotel. Due to flight times, we checked in after midnight and were made to feel that we were putting the hotel out in doing this. Rooms old and very average, this is basically an upscale B&B. However, it is right on the sea-front, so the... more

We stayed at this hotel for the weekend when were in Southend to visit friends and were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is literally overlooking a lovely quiet stretch of beach, about 10-15 minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of Southend. The hotel interiror is smart and there is a nice bar where you can have a drink looking... more

Aww...what a lovely little hidden gem!! I want to stay again and again... My and my Fiancee paid £50 for this hotel through last minute (it costs £60 on the day we found out) as we both live with our parents and thought it'd be nice to out somewhere "cheap and cheerful" after a nice meal that we had booked... more
