Warm welcome from the owner. Strategically located at the seashores of Southend-on-Sea with a great view of the world's longest pleasure pier, within walking distance to the high street and the beach. The rooms are cozy, albeit a bit smaller than usual. Free wifi is available, but it's quite annoying as you need to dial the reception when you first... more

I have just completed a length stay at this delightful hotel. The rooms have been elegantly refurbished, including new sash double glazed windows. When making comparisons with modern 5* hotels, there is none. This is not a modern marble clad monolith. This is a good victorian grade II listed building, with great views of the Thames Esturary, Southend Pier and... more

I am very disappointed by the treatment we received when arriving at the hotel. After booking a room more than 2 months in advance, we arrived at the hotel only to be told by the "manager?" that we don't have a room anymore and she has moved us to another hotel around the corner! How does that work? I go... more

A group of 8 of us stayed for one saturday night. We really had no complaints about the hotel. Rooms A and B are located downstairs near the breakfast room and have their own private lounge with sofas and sky television so you don't need to enter the main hotel. The rooms were spacious and very clean although our bathroom... more

This hotel has one of the best locations in the Southend-on-Sea area. It is close to the seaside attractions at the top of the cliffs and also just a few minutes walk from the high street. It is located in the conservation area. Thats as good as it gets. The Hotel does not do justice to its position. The bathroom... more
