I do prefer to stay at The Roslin rather than the run-down Westcliff but the locals and regulars seem to think it's some marvellous boutique hotel. Unlike one other recent reviewer, we found the service and ambience excellent, also the food. Staff particularly helpful. Situated well away from the hustle and bustle of Southend itself, this is a good location for lunch or dinner if you are in the area. Not cheap, but not excessively expensive either.
