I am a Henry VIII history buff so I was really looking forward to this stay but I am sorry to report that I am terribly disapointed in the experience. The castle itself is lovely but that is where the pros end. The food in the restaurant was some of the worst I had in my whole stay in England... more

We stayed in the Tower which was £880 a night inc. dinner and breakfast. Whilst this was a treat it was worth every penny. The tower accommodation is exactly what it looks like on the website. I didn't want to leave. Dinner was excellent. Breakfast was excellent. Everything was excellent. What a wonder place a real gem in Thornbury and... more

Thornbury Castle was an extravagance but well worth it. We enjoyed spending one night in the Audley Room in the main part of the castle. We had high tea when we arrived, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff surprised us w/a Happy Birthday complimentary pastry as we were celebrating my daughter's birthday. Since we were still full from the tea... more

We really enjoyed our night at Thornbury Castle. The staff were great, couldn't do enough for us. The room was amazing, up some winding stone steps. It was extremely spacious, had a lovely fire burning and a four poster bed! We had two chairs by the fire and a decanter of complimentary sherry. We actually didn’t feel like leaving the... more

We stayed in the Thornbury Castle for two nights in September 2009. I loved the castle and the rooms were fantastic, both the bed room (Plantagenet) and the main lounge and dining areas, which I thought had been done with a lot of style and taste. It all looks like a castle should. The welcome was very friendly and the... more

A castle that has been tastefully converted into a fairytale hotel. It even has its own vineyard. Few English restaurants can offer their own very palatable home grown wine. more
