My wife and I stayed for one night at Flossie’s in early June during a three-week tour of England. We paid ₤60 for our double room. We stayed at six different B&B’s across the country, so I am comparing Gables with the others.
We needed a place to stay in the Chawton/Alton area while doing research on Jane Austen, and East Tisted is about seven miles south of Chawton and the Jane Austen museum. East Tisted is very small, only a huddled collection of a few houses and a church. If you blink, you will miss it. Tucked back on one of the only roads in the village is a little store and adjoining it is Flossie’s.
The location is great for peace and quiet, but not much else if you want to do things. You will need a car to reach it, and there are a few pubs five miles down the road. Flossie’s is a new venture with only two rooms available, but they are clean and modern.
This B&B is ideal for people who want an extended stay and like to do some...
