There are a few reasons why Queen Anne Cottage is one of my favourite B&Bs in the country. In no particular order:
- The Location. The villiage of Goodworth Clatford is easy to find from the A303, A34, Andover and Winchester; but yet really feels 'away from it all'. The place is beautiful, characterful, and has a pair of great pubs with fine real ale. Last night I dined at one and had a Venison and Wild Boar stew which was fantastic (and under £10!). The street lighting is minimal, which is no problem as the villiage is quiet and means that the view of the stars on a clear night is simply wonderful.
- The rooms. None of your twee doilies here, the rooms are clean, comfortable and functional. There are only 3 of them - a twin, a double and a single. Special mention should go to the showers, which are very powerful and refreshing. The recent addition of free wireless internet is a bonus too.
- The food. Mike's breakfasts are great - from smoked trout...
