The Hotel, as everyone says, is in need of some re-decorating, the room we had was ok the bed was clean, white and crisps as were the bath towles. The staff very friendly and informative on the area. more

Stayed one night at this hotel. Reading the past reviews we did not know what to expect. IT WAS WONDERFUL! Our room was very comfortable the sheets were white and very soft, very comfortable bed- very good nights sleep (unusual for a hotel) Everything was provided in the room: hairdryer iron etc The breakfast was superb - with genuine service... more

Yes , parts of the hotel needed a make over & the carpets were thread bare in places. Our room was full of character, with beams & sloping floors, we liked it :). As an overnight stay it was ideal. Ryan the hotel manager was very friendly/helpful & even made us sandwiches to take away next day as we had... more

Stupidly we read the reviews after we had booked through a Radio Times Subscriber deal. Still we thought it would be fine... The TV had no remote control and lines across it the whole time. The vanity light in the bathroom would not turn off so flooded the room with light if you tried to creep to the loo in... more

Very dissapointing stay. Left hotel prematurely as a result of extremely poor service from the hotel's weekend staff. The weekday staff were brilliant and somewhat compensated for the poor condition of this hotel. As soon as the weekend shift took over it was a complete and utter disaster and as a consequence ruined our 25th wedding anniversary celebration. So NO... more

I stayed at The Bear Hotel with my husband for 2 nights,I was a bit aprehensive after reading the reviews on trip advisor but I was very pleasantly surprised. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice fiendly blonde lady and an older gentleman who made us feel very welcome with their friendly banter. We had dinner on both... more

We stayed at The Bear Hotel for one night only having been impressed by its website. The photos on the website show a lovely quaint and charming 16th century, modernised inn. Don't be fooled, the reality is very different. The hotel is tacky, tired, grim and musty. It was totally fine for a one night stop over but you would... more

I have stayed at another hotel run by the same firm. This hotel belongs to the Greene King Hotels and Inns chain. The Bell Inn in Thetford is also part of the chain. I have written a report on my stay in Thetford which makes for interesting reading. There is a large car park at the Hotel. However, it is... more

Room 37 tired but clean. Lovely bed as usual with this chain. Noisy extractor just outside the huge picture window. Breakfast and evening food standard fare but well prepared. Chef helpfully prepared a cheeseboard which was not part of the menu. Bar staff tried to overcharge for the wine though. Staff business-like, not really welcoming. The pub bar was awful... more
