Lovely building, just a shame the service and the standard of the room were below par. At £89 (special rate) perhaps I expected too much, but the room was shabby, particularly the bathroom with cracked tiles, dirty huge gaps around the bath and the lack of a thermostatically controlled shower. The creaking floorboards may be expected from such an old... more

Stayed for 3 nights to celebrate my 40th birthday and our 1st wedding aniversary. Check in easy, reception staff couldn't be more welcoming. Room 4 poster bed, romantic and very clean. Four of my family members joined us for my birhday dinner on the table was a birthday card form the staff-nice touch. We were seated in a semi private... more

I live locally and booked a superior double room for one night whilst our newly purchased house was being sprayed for woodworm and we couldn't sleep there. The rooms at The Crown, whilst very clean are dated and the furniture (think chipboard side tables covered in too-short table cloths) were not what I was expecting for a £99 per night... more

Hotel can really noisy (creeking) at times, food is very good and the bar staff are very helpful, polite and chatty. Would suit the more older folk, as there are no gym, pool etc Upside the internet is free more

An excellent hotel, located on the main street. Can be a bit difficult to get to due to the one way system and heavy traffic, there is even an amusing sign outside the hotel saying you have missed us again, go round the one way sysem again. Anyway it was all worth it in the end. Lovely and clean hotel,... more

We had a two night stay (87 pound per room) and we were in room 207. We couldn't sleep because of the traffic. The large lorries and vans were making the bed shake as they bounced along to stop at the traffic lights. The next night we were upgraded to room 216 at the back of the hotel and it... more

I have recently just paid a visit to the crown hotel with my fiancé, and I was extremely surprised to come across the unnecessary review that "Mike" has left. We live in Liverpool and come down about three to four times a year to visit family and friends and this time around we decided to stay in a hotel for... more
