we stayed here in nov...all fine until we went for dinner...the lounge for residents was untidy..cups left...papers all over the place..generally shabby..were told to go to the bar to get our pre dinner drinks!..no waiter service..the menu is very very tough..mostly fish or game...bar that u have a steak option of rib eye..no vedgetarian options....we had to try and mix... more

The Master Builder's House is full of promise and delivers on almost every front. The young American woman who checked us in and out was perky, charming and smart. Great staff, delightful rooms, perfect surroundings, peaceful, friendly - I could go on for hours. We've stayed at other hotels in the New Forest that were more expensive with higher star ratings, but this hotel, right on the river, is the best by far. Stayed for 3 nights in a 'nice' room. Though the decor was tired this did not detract from our enjoyment. An effort to provide a high level of serivce in these rooms is evident with fluffy robes, egyptian cotton sheets and a comfy bed. Nice tolietries & complimentary tipple appreciated!! Stayed for 2 nights DBB in the refurbished part of the hotel.We had 2 rooms that were very comfortable and sypathetically decorated.The location of the hotel is beautiful by the water and a marvellous use of the old buildings.Staff friendly and commited to making your stay comfortable. more
