Stayed in this hotel for the weekend to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and we really enjoyed our stay. Booked a riverview room and we were at the top of the hotel with a seperate lounge area, botht the bedroom and the lounge overlooked the harbour and they were stunning views. Dinner was wonderful each evening. Breakfast was also good, though... more

Below average! and that includes the total lack of response from the Hotel Management when approached about our disappointing stay!. At $360 a night we expected at the very least an above average experience, what we got was ordinary!. We were meeting friends from the area and although they had not stayed at the hotel choose it because it looked... more

What an opportunity missed! Situated in a glorious maritime setting, overlooking the solent and with such history behind it, the Master Builder's should be a winner. Unfortunately, the decor is severely dated (something the odd speck of Farrow and Ball paint cannot hide), and service is very poor. Walls in the Adams wing are paper thin - a seventies extension... more

We spent two nights here in early May, driving straight down from Heathrow after the long flight from Australia (about an hours drive). The hotel is part of the old ship building facility at Bucklers Hard that used to the oaks from the New Forest. It is a beautiful drive throught the forest on quiet roads (ponies everywhere) and the... more

This is a very attractive hotel which overlooks the Beaulieu River. We paid a bit extra a got Room 20 which must be the best room in the hotel giving fantastic views over the marina. The public rooms were very comfortable especially for pre-dinner drinks and reading the newspapers. Whilst the meal in the restaurant was very pleasant it occassionally... more

My partner and I stayed in this hotel as a present to him for his birthday. and I would not recommend it to young couples. I was nice and peaceful but we got the impression that we were being an inconvenience to the staff. On our first night we eat in the yaughtsman and were made to feel so uncomfortable... more

We booked for a Thursday and Friday night staying in the Annexe. We stumbled up the dark path (about 5pm) to reception (the following night we noticed lanterns had been lit and the lights turned on). Our standard room was warm and cosy, nice big comfortable bed but no outlook (we paid £130 per night). However, the bathroom was disappointing... more

This is a lovely old English hotel right on the Beaulieu river. We got a good rate (£99) by booking through the local tourist website. We had a lovely double room looking out over the garden onto the river. We had been camping all week and needed a bit of comfort. The original building (where we stayed) has superior rooms.... more

We stayed at the Master Builders Hotel on June 24th, 2006, in the Henry Adams wing in the room "Surprise" named after the first ship built in the 18th century by the master builder. The museum next door is fascinating and only five pounds admission. (Avoid the tea room at four pounds for tea and scone each). Both restaurants are... more
