The bedroom was nice but lacked what you would expect for paying £70 a night. Breakfast was selfhelp, it looked unappitiziing, and was just thrown on the service counter with no presentation and was cold on both days we stayed. The owner/manager lacked professionalism and that was reflected through out the hotel and in the staff. more

On entry to the hotel, the grounds it is set on are actually lovely and you can tell that there is still a lot of work to be done. However the service of the staff and management leave a lot to be desired. On arrival, we checked in, and they had my husbands name in twice, which confused the boy... more

Having read the unflattering reviews after booking for five nights at the Sandpiper, my husband and I were a bit apprehensive of what to expect. We should not have worried. We had to phone to say 'how do we get in' when we couldn't find the car park but realised afterwards that we had not read our instructions properly. Maybe... more

To debunk a few myths; Not sure why anyone would think the hotel a bit of a maze. It's just not that big and I'm puzzled how anyone could struggle to find the main entrance - you just go through the car park and it's pretty clear. I travelled with my 2 kids, 8 and 5. We stayed in a... more

We ordered baguettes, a couple of salads and a couple of curries. An hour and a quarter later we were still waiting. We had to go and remind them that we had a ferry to catch. Apparantly there was only one person working in the kitchen, but for goodness sake! BAGUETTES and a couple of SALADS?? an HOUR and a... more

Hotel website makes totally false claims for this hotel. It should be renamed 'Fawlty Towers'. We felt truly sorry for the staff who are in an impossible position. The owners obviously run this establishment on a shoe-string resulting in inadequate staffing levels. We witnessed the manageress working an 18+ hour day, including running reception and the bar. Most other staff... more

A complete and utter dump. No obvious entrance. Rooms with no natural light or opening windows. Place is a building site. No warning given at time of booking just 1 week beforehand, or that the characterful Fat Cat bar was closed and being knocked into a "bistro". Hotel bar utterly depressing. Reception unrecognisable, just a corner desk in the bar.... more

Check-in took forever - not the charming lady's fault, as she couldn't use the computer, (she was bar staff) - they should have someone there who knows how to do it full-time. Floors in bar area and restaurant looked dusty. Room clean, but paper-thin walls - we could hear the person next door splashing about in the bath and doors... more

I stayed here when meeting up with an old school friend. I found all the staff friendly, Room was nice and clean. thought the little rooms in the bar area were quite nice but perhaps a bit of a waste of space - you might be a bit pushed to fit a large group of you into one of these... more

Well, where do i start... The place is terribly signposted. We could see it - but didn't know how to get in!! The carpark entrance is through the back of a pay and display car park. And we couldn't find the reception because it looked so run down we thought we were at the back of the property! At reception,... more
