Having read the other reviews I was terrified about our anniversary trip to the Priory Bay. However I needn't have worried. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds, with a lovely walk down to the private (sandy) beach. We were given a warm welcome and shown to our room, no sign of the grimy worn out hotel I was expecting... more

We had 3 nights at this hotel recently. Bits of the building are part of an old priory and so the overall aspect is “historic”. The grounds are quite large and extend down to a large private beach and encompass a 9 hole par 3 golf course, OK for a bit of practise, greens looked OK, fairways rough. There were... more

Visited the restaurant with 7 other friends for a birthday celebration - Cobwebs and spiders in the bar area add to the authenticity of the building - being escorted through to the restaurants one is able to take in the various stains and dirt marks on the carpets - various shades thereof. The meal was something to behold - the... more

We stayed (trapped)over the August bank holiday, frankly it was awful!! When we complained no one took any notice. Quite who runs this place is anyones guess. The breakfast room tables and floor were dirty every day (3) and dinner on the Saturday evening was bland, tepid at best and all over in 70 mins? Having left a note you... more

My wife and I wanted a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of London and found the Priory Bay hotel on tripadvisor. We were looking for a relaxing, long weekend and a place where we could go on long countryside rambles. The Seaview fit the bill. We didn't get off to too good of a start as our first... more

My wife and I took my mother in law to lunch at Priory Bay Hotel .Ignoring the fact that no notice was taken by hotel staff that she was a very elderly and infirm lady and that we could have been taken to the restaurant via an exterior route that avoided all but three steps instead of the twenty or... more

We relocated to this hotel after a horrible experience elsewhere on the Isle of Wight. It's a great spot with a variety of rooms for all ages/combinations of families. Although we weren't travelling with children, lots of guests were. It's a great set up for a long stay. Very beautiful grounds, outdoor pool, short walk to the beach. There's a... more

Priory Bay is a hidden gem of a hotel and we all enjoyed our stay there - we'd definitely recommend it highly to anyone who was looking for a break -either with kids or as a couple. Going to the Isle of Wight is a bit of an adventure in itself as you leave the mainland behind but when you... more

One great senior member of staff, a real gem, the rest proficient enough but strangely not very friendly. Food is over-ambitious and far too complex for the setting, the style, and the customers. With such good, local products, simple should be the keyword, but honestly..... "A Presentation of Veal"! What is that about?! And one dessert is "Presented With A... more

My wife and I have just spent the last weekend relaxing at the Priory Bay Hotel. The service we enjoyed was second to none - nothing was too much trouble, from the front of house staff to Chef. Our room (number 12) was light and very spacious with sea views to distant Selsey. Every detail seemed to have been thought... more
