Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Gorgeous cottages. Very clean. They really have thought of everything. Kitchen has everything you can think of. Beds very comfortable. Cosy lounge area and good outdoor sitting areas. Plenty of hanging and storage space. Quiet location. Toni arranged everything for me including ferry crossings. It felt like the team actually cared about us and really wanted us to have a good holiday. The only hesitation I have in recommending West Bay is that we want it all to ourselves! It was over and above everything we expected.

We took my disabled mum and my father last weekend. We also took our dog teddy . The accommodation was spotlessly clean and perfect for our needs . Toni was extremely helpful and kind , recommending various places to eat bearing in mind our situation. Also another staff member , sorry no name , he gave us directions to local supermarkets etc ! All in all it was a very successful weekend , one we would certainly repeat . Kind regards Marcus and April

Last year reviewed west bay and can now say it’s not got any better Been to this site for over 30 years and now it’s gone from being a family holiday site e with loads of facilities and now nothing No pool shop somewhere to eat and now no reception and no sports facilities Plus this use to be holiday let’s and now there a permanent people living here and also some of the properties have been let out on a six month rental Although the site is still lovely the only sports still available is the tennis courts which are going to be removed so more properties can be built as planning permission Has been granted for more houses There is talk the pool may open in the near future but this has been suggested so may times over the last two years it dosent look like it’s going to open so although you can let children play on green outside the cottages there is nothing on Site for them to do Please whoever owns this site sort it out because unfortunately it is not changing for the better And even the owners on site don’t know what’s happening

It was our first trip to the isle of wight and won't be our last. Staying in Plimouth8 West Bay Cottages , the accomodation was very clean and well stocked with lots provided, tea/ coffee and the basic essentials. The accommodation was a perfect size for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers) and the extra space on the rear garden with tables and chairs. The location was great for the small quaint town of Yarmouth and very close to activities of the Needles , Tapnell Farm Aqua Park and surfing at Compton Beach and hidden Gems like Colwell Beach. All in all we loved where we West Bay Cottages and would certainly recommend it to friends , with a small park for kids and the onsite tennis courts . It's a shame the swimming pool wasn't open but I hear it will when it's been refurbished. It's a shame our holiday is nearly at an end but we will be back to the isle of wight 😊☀️👍🏻

Basic hotel with comfy bedd and spotlessly clean. The nicest thing about this place is the lovely owners and people that work there. They couldn’t do enough for us! They were absolutely lovely and made our stay relaxing as it could be with 30 11 year olds in tow! Food was really great to lots of choice and very tasty. Thank you

We had an absolutely fab stay at West Bay (Wight staycation) over the jubilee bank holiday. Cottage was spotlessly clean and well appointed. The staff on site, Simon and Sam were super helpful with any queries we had. We did stay here several years ago when the swimming pool complex was open and it is a shame that it’s not open. Hopefully it will open again. The kids had great fun playing outside, safe and child friendly. Thoroughly recommend and look forward to booking again.

I used to go here with my kids when they were younger, so when me and a couple of friends wanted a couple of days away, thought it was perfect as it had everything we needed for a relaxing stay after working through a pandemic. To say what I was disappointed was a bit of an understatement and felt really embarrassed as I had bigged the place up. All the facilities were shut, no swimming pool/ spa etc. not even the shop. The place looked tatty, which used to be lovely. The price of a couple of days did not reflect that everything was shut.

We came to the Isle of Wight for a 5 day holiday and booked to stay here. Overall the stay was really nice, there were a few things that were a little hit and miss. The location was really handy- especially being so close to the ferry and the external green space were well maintained. We did walk in to a slightly unclean floor with some dead flies in a pile and the fridge was very smelly- but I think that is because it may have been closed for too long without being on. Though the fridge itself was very clean. All the kitchen utensils were very clean and ready to use and they left a small package of fairy liquid, sponges and soaps. The bathroom and bedroom were fine and the bedding was clean. You will need to bring washing up gloves and oven gloves as they are not provided. The WIFI is good and works well with no issues with connection. All the tech in the cottage worked very well e.g TV, Microwave etc… The shower was a little weak and made a strange noise if you turned the shower pressure too high, but wasn't really an issue as it was nice and warm. The cottage was also really warm and there was no issue with heating. The place also has a laundry where you can do your washing, this was unlocked every day for us. They also have a tennis court and a kids play area which looked well maintained. Overall, would stay here again for sure!! Thank you 😊

We stayed at Pierpoint 1 a two bedroom cottage (more a bungalow). Two adults and a 11yo and 12yo who shared a twin room. It was clean-ish. The pots and pans seemed to have remnants of previous food on it so had to be washed again. The dining table was sticky so needed a good clean also, but the rest of the place was pretty clean. No Netflix but it had a DVD player so a trip to a charity shop to buy a few cheap DVD’s kept us entertained (we left the DVD’s there for others to use!!). The site itself seemed relatively empty seen as though it was half term but it was nice not allowing cars directly onto the site. It is clearly a real shame the swimming pool was closed as that would have been a real hit, but instead we played tennis every morning and evening and the courts were actually a good standard!! We didn’t see any clear recycling areas though which miffed us a little. Location on the island was great. Nearby to Alum Bay, we also drove to carisbrooke castle which kept us entertained for a couple of hours. We walked to Fort Victoria which combined a few shops, complete with old style arcade games and a reptilarium. A coastal walk to Yarmouth (20mins) was easy enough and all in all it accounted to a good break away!! Would we stay there again? Probably not as we did everything that side of the island but I would recommend it to others.
