Quite a few positives to this place: big rooms; excellent (new looking) bathroom facilities; very comfortable beds and some good staff. All of these things set the place apart from your average chain hotel and make it worth staying at. The car park has plenty of space and the pub beneath the hotel is nice enough with a decent garden,... More

First trip to Hythe, so I didn't know any of the local hotels. But as The Red Lion had an earlier check-in (and later check-out) than the other B&B we looked at and was actually cheaper (once breakfast for 2 was accounted for) than the nearest chain budget hotel, we thought we'd give it a go. I'm glad we did.... More

We've just returned from a 2 night stay at the Red Lion visiting family. The location is ideal for Hythe and sat at one end of the high street means you can easily wander around the lovely shops, cafes and pubs or stroll along the canal before walking down to the seafront; perfect. They have a decent sized car park... More

We stayed there with a number of guest that were attending a wedding at Lymph Castle. On arrival ample car parking so easy access to all within Hythe. We were greeted by the chef as we check who was very pleasant. The room was large an adequate the furniture was old but in good condition and also clean. We were... More

A great little hotel, very close to the Channel Tunnel. This hotel has rooms above the Pub, where food and drinks are served by the owner. Atmosphere and taste as well as freshness of all dishes is perfect. You may be a little surprised at first when entering the hotel from the car park. The grey carpet is not the... More

We was delighted to stumble upon the Red Lion on our recent trip to Hythe, Staff where polite & helpful & our room was clean with crisp sheets & fluffy towels, we had a room at the back of the hotel as it is on a busy road

Stairs leading up to rooms are so filthy and smelly the rooms are not much better. Mismatched furniture obviously bought from a junk shop. Carpet in breakfast room hasn't seen a carpet cleaner let alone a Hoover in months. Reception is a cupboard equally in a very bad condition. Whoever runs this hotel needs a change of career as they... More

We arrived much earlier than expected but this was not a problem. We were checked in and the room was ready for us to use straight away. Food was good value for money. It was close to all town centre shops and more importantly for us it was close to the channel tunnel at Folkestone. Staff were all very friendly... More
