We visited Whalley Abbey whilst staying in the nearby Cliterhoe. This review concerns the Whalley Abbey ancient ruins itself and not the attached hotel (Tripadvisor doesn't have a seperate listing for the ruins and wouldn't add one when requested). 4 of us (plus baby) turned up and paid £2 each to get into the ruins. We held our wedding reception here in September 2007, and cannot say enough good things about the place!! Our room was perfect and the staff couldn't be more helpful! more

First and foremost this is a conference venue, owned and operated by the Blackburn Diocese of the Church of England. Like other venues it seems that they have looked at other avenues of revenue and now offer bed and breakfast to all. The historic building and grounds are all totally non smoking with the exception of an uncovered smoking area.... more

Whalley (Abbey) Hotel is a delightful hotel set in the grounds and ruins of Whalley Abbey..built in the 15th Century. We only stayed for one night, but wanted to stay longer.
