Back from 4 night getaway on very good value dbb basis, and endorse previous comments. Friendly staff, pleasant room, congenial restaurant and lounge; dinner menu well able to stand four successive evenings eating in: food well cooked and interesting without being pretentious, with a number of veggie options, all good value; wine list limited but fair prices by restaurant standards;... more

Together with a group of friends, we booked two nights at the Post House in October as part of a walking holiday in the Forest of Bowland. It’s in an excellent location is in the centre of the pretty town of Clitheroe about two minutes walk from trains and buses. Parking at the rear is a bit tight although there... more

Made a late booking by telephone for a night away, arrived three hours later and was warmly welcomed by a great host, who had plenty of good, honest advice on where to go and what to do locally. Good rooms and a great (veggie) breakfast that set us up for a day's walking. more

8 Dec 2008 | Trip type: Solo travel

This traditional hotel in the heart of the quiet Lancashire town of Clitheroe is a bit of a hidden jewel. In comparison to the other hotels in the area I was expecting budget accommodation with a grand name but I was very pleasantly surprised. The room was slightly cramped but well equipped: kettle, selection of teas, hot chocolate, coffee for... more

Friendly welcome on a wet night. Room was fine, except for a plug-in fragrance generator that made my eyes water. Easy to rectify! All clean and tidy with a very good breakfast. Good value. Would stay again. more
