If you are ever over Shepshed way and need yourself a place to stay There's a B & B on the Ashby road called GILBURN The rooms are cosy and comfy and clean and the breakfast served is simply supreme at GILBURN Just arrived from the Antipodes, I spent nine days there in absolute ease My stay indeed was a... more

We like to be able to give honest reviews and opinions, and provide constructive criticism where necessary for the benefit of all, but honestly, we couldn't fault Gilburn. Our one night in both a twin and a double room was perfect. All we can say is we would have loved to have stayed at least another night. We would definitely... more

What a find. Highly recommended, better than most hotels we have stayed in. Family room was extremely comfortable with all the nice extras included. Breakfast "the best" all organic and cooked beautifully by Liz. Malcolm couldn't do enough to make our stay the best, even had organised a table for us for dinner at the local pub, that is real... more

We stayed for one night with our 14month old son. We were met bythe very friendly owner Malcolm and shown around the bed and breakfast and then to our room. The accomodation was not only of a very high standand, but spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. The breakfast was fab, again Malcolm was extremely accomodating re times and very helpful... more

What a marvelous place to stay - I could not fault it in any way at all. The room was spotless and had all (if not more than) the comforts of home. To call the bathroom "en-suite" is an understatement; this was an adjoining room with piping hot water, clean fluffy towels and some gorgeous toiletries (my hair has never... more

Malcolm was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were lovely - better than a lot of hotels I have stayed in. Good cooked breakfast. If I'm looking for a B&B near Loughborough again I will definitely stay at the Gilburn. more

I stayed at the 'Great' Gilburn B&B last week and it was fab! The facilities are fantastic and i will have no hesitation to return again. As a female travelling alone i felt totally at home and very relaxed in it's enviroment. It was clean, well equiped and Malcolm is a great host. Breakfast was delish and i couldn't fault... more

I stayed here for one night with my husband, on the way to Derby. We were very impressed with the quality, cleanliness, size and comfort of the room we had. The bathroom is very high tech, with a large shower and posh soaps - just beware that the automatic lights can go off at unexpected moments! For us, the highlight... more

Like other reviewers, I'm loath to share the secret! We stayed at Gilburn for a conference having previously stayed at B&Bs in Loughborough that were OK - but nothing to shout about. We chose Gilburn because of its emphasis on organic food and because of its proximity to Loughborough University. The food exceeded expectations (and we are hard to please)... more
