I booked two rooms at Howdens Lodge earlier this month for me and my parents. The website was very professional and I had no problems booking and the rates were very reasonable compared to other hotels in the same area.
On arrival the building looked very industrial and it was clear it was undergoing a re-vamp, but the rooms were bright and clean. It was pretty quiet at night even though it was next to the train station and a busy road.
The service was great, the place was more or less empty so there was one person acting as receptionist, cook and cleaner!
Breakfast was nice and there was plenty of choice.

The only problem we had was returning late at night, the front door was a fire escape door which was left unlocked, but we had some real trouble getting in!! We spent ages and were ready to give up and sleep in the car when it finally opened after much pushing and pulling!

Overall not a bad stay, good value for money. more
