Accommodation at the Star Inn is not in the pub itself, but in various buildings very very close by. We (a group of 12) have just stayed in one of those buildings - Cross House Lodge, which is one minute's walk across the road from the pub.  It comprises eight double bedrooms, a lounging area with sofas and easy chairs,... I visited with 2 of my daughters to celebrate a family birthday and was very impressed. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table which was comfortable and spacious. The waitress carefully explained the specials and we had plenty of time to read the menu. We deliberately tried to select different meals so that we could try a selection... More

Went there for my wife's birthday in November 2011. Overall it was very nice, we eat in the old room which was well furnished and extremely comfortable. The service and food were excellent. On the downsides, the waiter/ess were not that friendly and appeared a little stuffy. It is at the top of the price scale for Sunday Lunch. More

The Cross House Lodge is an amazing venue, you relax the moment you step through the door. Complimentary afternoon tea, very srumptious. Our room was lovely and Molton Brown goodies was a nice surprise. Food at The Star Inn was fantastic, all of the staff both in the Lodge and the Pub are very friendly and made us feel very... More

Very poor standard of accommodation for the price, we stayed at Cross House Lodges room 8 as I don't want to ramble on I will make a list. Level of lighting in room and bathroom so poor it was difficult to apply make-up or style hair, handles fell of wardrobe, bathroom door stuck and only opened half way bathroom toiletries not... More

I took a party of 33 for Sunday Lunch. The whole of the afternoon was perfect from start to finish. We received a warm welcome for the Head Waiter, who immediately arranged for us to relax and have drinks in the bar. The bar was busy, with a lively and friendly atmosphere. I had a superb Black Sheep Ale, it’s... More

After watching this programme on Channel 4 the other night it made me remember reading some bad reviews about The Star Inn...and I feel they are completely unfounded, and a little bit sniffy! It's a fantastic place to stay. Great food, great hospitality, a great room (we stayed in Room 8), and I loved the fact there was an honesty... More

Our stay at the Star Inn was a wedding gift. We ate in the inn and had a fantastic meal, good service and lovely atmosphere. We stayed at the Cross Houses accommodation across the road and for £200 per night it was disappointing. The only toiletries in the bathroom were a shower cap; we had to go and ask for... More

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the The Star Inn and cannot fault our trip from start to finish. We ate in the restaurant on two nights and can honestly say the food was fantastic. We stayed in the 'Garden Shed' cottage and again the quality was second to none. It was the perfect setting to celebrate our engagement... More
