Chose from the AA.com website. I was offered a DBB rate for one night, which was most welcome as the majority of hotels don't entertain this. A very friendly welcome, and an excellent evening meal. The only downside was in general the hotel needs freshening up as most areas, including the bedroom, looked tired. Whilst the hotel temperature was comfortable,... more

I got married at Monk Fryston Hall on 26 May 2007 and the day was perfect! The grounds are so picturesque which made for some excellent wedding photo's and the staff were first class! We didnt have to think about a thing on the day - the staff made everything run so smoothly. Even at the pre-wedding meeting, going through... more

It's a wonderful building and setting, just a pity the rooms haven't been touched since c. 1950! They've never heard of duvets or flat screen televisions, and the bathroom we had was obviously cobbled together from B&Q leftovers. Staff are pleasant but very amateurish. more

We booked Monk Fryston Hall for our 17th Dec wedding, due to the fact that it was very local to us and because it came highly recommended by the many people that we spoke to during our wedding planning. From the initial visit to the hotel to tentatively enquire about a date, through to the final booking and finer wedding... more

We had our wedding at Monk Fryston Hall and it was just perfect. From the moment of looking round the venue to after our honeymoon we felt we were looked after superbly by the Monk Fryston staff especially Pam and Chris - he was so funny. When I hear my friends and family talk about this venue they only have... more

Very pretty hotel set in lovely country gardens, in the Vale of York. Not the most stunning part of Yorkshire, but you'd never know it once in the lovely hotel grounds. The stately home is warm and very attractive, with oak panelling and cosy rooms. Prices are reasonable considering the standard of rooms and service. more

This is a typical small country house with beautiful surroundings - it is not too grand so its is quite friendly. It looks like the ideal setting for a murder mystery. The food is of an appropriate standard without being overly fussy. Beware summer weekends as the hotel can be very busy if there is a large wedding happening (usually... more
