Great Sunday lunch. Lovely dining room, competent service. Celeriac velouté was outstanding. Good choice of main courses. (Food is just a little too salty is my only criticism). Next time I'll try the puds. More

I took my family there , 6 of us, for a celebratory dinner , my daughter's choice .... the dining area was a bit 'crowded', and a table set right in front of what would have been a nice 'live' fire - was blocked to us, sat at a two tables knocked to-gether . What we could make out of... More

Went there for my wifes birthday treat having not been for a number of years. She'd never been so I didn't tell her where we were going as I didn't know if would be as good as I remembered. I shouldn't have worried, the decor was just as eccentric & the food was wonderful. She had the black pudding starter... More

Just back from our anniversary dinner at the Tontine. Two starter3 were disappointing, lobster tube was missing a lot of lobster, I had the equivalent of a large prawn and a lot of orange foam! Seafood pancake was a large piece of salmon with a few scattered pieces of fish and 2 queenie scallops, although the redeeming feature was the... More

Originally we had only booked in for Sunday lunch. But the weather was great and the meal was so good that we decided at the last minute to stay over. The reception staff were fantastic and showed me what rooms were available. We opted for No 3. The bed was very comfy the standard of linens & towels and furnishings... More

Not been for years won't be rushing back, Having dinner in the bistro very poor service, Starters not good the bread arrived 10 minutes after we had finished our starters after the 3rd time of asking and three different members of staff coming over to clear our table. The sea food pancake could well have been from the freezer. No... More

I last ate here in 1992 when it was my 21st - parents treated me to a meal out and it was fantastic . In 15 years it had not changed. We decided to take advantage of the 30 year break, DBB offer and invite two of our closest friends along. It did not disappoint. Our room was superb, huge... More

Stayed for just the one night. Arrived to such a welcome, tea in china cups (which didnt match) home made biscuits and wait for it... rare beef for the dogs! Judith who I think runs the place was just fabulous. The layout of the hotel is think Vivienne Westwood then make it just a tad crazier and you are then... More
