We have stopped here a few times for coffee .. which is always accompanied by a lovely home-made cookie. Always had a friendly welcome. It is a good place to stop, if you find yourself in that 'quieter' part of Swaledale.

Stopped by the Kearton Country Restaurant on our way home from travelling to visit family and was pleasently suprised by the excellent food and service. Very quaint and homely inside, the food was of excellent quality (the soup particularly delicious!) The tea and homemade biscuits and scones were a lovely touch to warm our bones from the hoffific english weather...

Morning coffee (or afternoon tea!) is a must at the Kearton Country Hotel if you are in Swaledale. The hot drinks come with a delicious ginger biscuit and the hot chocolate is a fun DIY experience. Lovely views as well.
This is a great place to stay in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Position is excellent. En-suite rooms are excellent and if you go for the half board, both breakfast and evening meal are excellent with a great choice of local food.

Driving from Tan Hill to Richmond we decided to stop for lunch at the Kearton Country Hotel Restaurant in the tiny village of Thwaite. The service and food were of an excellent standard, and we were made very welcome. The complimentary homemade biscuits with the tea and coffee were a nice touch. The scenery here is superb also.
We love the Kearton in Swaledale, Ian, Jaqcui and Leigh have the hospitality quite perfect. Food is great, with plenty of choice. Rooms well equiped and very cosy. We have visited the last four years as a group of friends and have booked again for May 2013. Walks from the door, a tea room and bar - what more can...

We popped into Kearton having been for a very long, cold walk. The homemade Cheese scone with Wensleydale cheese, including coffee was beautiful! It also came with a large biscuit on the side. Excellent value for money! My partner had the soup platter, which was an extremely large bowl of delicious vegetable soup with a sandwich on the side (BLT)....

I recently was driving through Swaledale and we came across the Kearton Country Hotel on a bleary, rainy day. We stopped for a cup of tea and the most gorgeous scones. The people were really friendly and you felt like you were sitting comfortably in someone's lounge room enjoying the warmth. It's a gorgeous little place to come across and...

We didn't stay there but our party of 6x2 nights thought dinner was really good, especially the baked cod, pork loin and black pudding starter. Reasonable priced wine, well kept Black Sheep bitter. Service was OK
Having stayed at this hotel in 2010 ourselves and friends stayed for 4 nights recently and again could not fault anything about it. The owners and staff are really friendly, the food is excellent and the hotel is in a handy location for walking on the moors. We had a lovely break and this hotel is excellent value for money.
